Very nice, Vera. You late husband, Robert, was truly one of the vocal heroes of my youth. Where are the Broadway artists like him today? How wonderful to see him young again and in such fine voice. Thank you!

Thank you so much for posting this history Mrs Goulet. I saw Robert Goulet in Camelot on Broadway in 1961. It was fantastic!!! I was in high school and my father took me to New York city with him and to this show... He took me backstage and I got autographs- Mr Goulet and Julie Andrews and Richard Burton - what a thrill for a midwestern girl (from Michigan). I was just in Love w Lancelot and his voice of course! I wish someone had a tape of the play to post. God Bless you and your family

thank you...this brought back so many memories. I saw this show on Broadway when I was a teen ager and I actually interviewed Goulet for my high school newspaper. It was quite a thrill to go back stage and into his dressing room with all the fuss and hub bub going on back stage. . He was quite a handsome man and he was incredibly kind and patient with us . It was the third Broadway Show I had seen and it was beautiful and sumptuous and the music was thrilling.

Well Vera, as a big fan of Camelot and of Mr.Goulet all the way back to the start, may i say that he was the greatest Lancelot of all. I thoroughly enjoyed his career, especially the Sullivan Show appearances and all his many other TV engagements. He was an extraordinary singer and he is surely missed.

Thanks so much, Mrs. Goulet, for the interview with Mr. Goulet and the gorgeous clip from ED SULLIVAN. I met Mr. Goulet in 1970 at the Colonie Coliseum in Latham, NY, where he gave an amazing concert. I regret that he's no longer with us, but he was certainly one of the greatest musical theater stars who ever lit up the Great White Way.

Thank you Mrs. Goulet for being a rather kind quencher for my thirst for Julie Andrews' voice. I will also have to dig deeper. There was a forum for such broadway shows and it was there where I learned that a man in NY color-taped many shows from the 50s and 60s, Camelot happened to be one of them. A color clip from the actual show is often showed on broadway based documentaries. Also, a live voice-only recording of this show exists. I have a copy if you would like.

There's one major difference in today's theatre, When Robert Goulet sings you can tell that he simple believes what he is doing. He is not in a musical but truly in the moment of the music itself. Every performance I see today, I am too aware that the actors are acting and that it is just a show. Thank you Vera for your wonderful post.

Thank you, Vera! I saw Bob as Lancelot at the O'Keefe when I was in my teens, and later took my daughter to see him as Arthur. He was marvellous in both roles, but I still love to hear him sing "If ever I would leave you." I remember clearly all the excitement about the opening of the O'Keefe.

Thanks for bring these gems back to the public that can only dream to be there. I was wondering Mr. Goulet's performance here was from the Ed Sullivan Show? I am surprised that CBC did not video tape the entire show, but maybe they did, someone just hasn't found it yet. I recall this one man taped it live in color in NYC. But he refuses to give the full tape. Did Ms.Andrews sing The Lusty Month of May during the Ed Sullivan show? Thanks again!
@ROBERTGOULETTHEMANANDHISLEGACY11 жыл бұрын
My pleasure Shams. Yes you are correct it was from the Ed Sullivan show. I was told that they did and I am still trying to find if those tapes exist. Who is the man in NY. I will double check and let you know if Julie sand "Lusty Month"

I think that there are so few pure and clean baritones left nowadays, and people now listen to such trashy music. Although Broadway is still great now, it will never be the same as before. I wish that I could have seen old Broadway with people like Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet. I was certainly born in the wrong time period!

Today Donald J Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United Sates of America. We , the ones who love President Trump waited 57 years for Camelot to return back to us after President Kennedy's assassination. What a relieve to have this wonderful gift given to all of us once again during our lifetimes. This has been such a very wonderful and beautiful day for this great Nation!!! Thank you God Almighty for restoring Camelot for us to enjoy once again, and thank you are great but humble President Trump and Vice President Pence!!!!

Just me you are insane. The Kennedys had class. The Trumps are trash. We have a fool for a president , a slut for first lady, and Barron looks likr an alien.
@robbey107 жыл бұрын
You're comparing Kennedy to Trump? You do have problems.
@shawnmalone97117 жыл бұрын
robert roberson There is no comparison. Kennedy towered head and shoulders above Trump. Kennedy gave people hope that our lives could be better. He gave us "High Hopes". Maybe you should watch My Fair Lady. Could we make Trump a great president? I doubt it. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Trump came out of the gutter and he'll return to the gutter .
@JustMe-ce8we7 жыл бұрын
Well spoken by two very liberal Dummyrats that have yet to come to terms with the fact that Hillcary is and NEVER will be your President. You might try doing some in depth research as to just how much these two Presidents Trump and Kennedy have in common, you might just even surprise yourselves,NOT, just a hint, you need to take your jackass blinders off first to really discover and appreciate the truth!!!!
@shawnmalone97117 жыл бұрын
Well, well another typical response from a Trumptard. Always angry because you can' t handle the truth. Trump wants to cut funding for the arts. You slavering assholes haven't the balls to join the military. Kennedy was a hero, Trump was a draft dodger. Now assume your fetal position and continue sucking your thumb repubtard!

Honestly, I don't know how anyone could not be a fan, unless you just don't like musical theatre. He is so natural! He can act and sing and if you have seen his version of Carousel, far better than Gordon McCrea, and I am a big Gordon McCrea too. Brigadoon he brought the singing back into it. whereas the movie concentrated on the dance. Kiss Me Kate, he was the perfect Petrucio!

japluspmc why say, "I am not a fan", or more to the point, why would you feel the need to add that? Why not just say that you though he was handsome & charming? Did it make you feel good to add the last part? Sorry, I'm always surprised at people's arrogance & thoughtlessness
