Had tix for AC/DC given to me for X-mas. They announced after tickets were out that Axl was taking the lead vocals. I was skeptical having heard some of his more recent live performances in what was that current line-up of GnR (no Slash, no Duff). From the opening track they (Axl included) killed it. They had a good dosage of the Bon Scott era (Rock and Roll Damnation, Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be, Live Wire, Sin City, Rosie..to name a few). Riff Raff in the encore between Hells Bells and For Those About to Rock. I wasn’t able to see Brian Johnson (or Malcom) but that was a straight up ass kicking rock and roll show full of killer AC/DC riffage. 🤘🏼

As a Blueser I always loved this song. They never play(ed) it live ever since. Very close to Oh Well from Peter Green but the flat 5th note (Bb) does the trick here. I never played it really round. So the correct picking seems to me like an eye opener. Thanks!

I’m going to buy your Angus young course. I’ve been playing since 1990. And not too bad , but I have a full time job so haven’t got time to work this out for myself , even though I could with time. But I don’t have time on my hands anymore , so I’ll buy it. I’m fed up with trying to play like eric Johnson ,I could play cliffs of Dover pretty well at one point with a mixture of alternate picking and economy up to speed and clean but it takes practice every day to keep that level up , and I can’t keep it up due to lack of time in my life. .. I’m not having fun on guitar anymore . But AC DC when I was playing it at 15 years old I had fun and that’s what guitar should be , fun !

Opening with a downpick is also counter to the rhythm, which is, to use a fancy word, iambic. Or to put it another way, if you only play the second beats, you get the melody. If you only play the first beats, you get the harmony or the root note. That's a big clue that you start on the up pick.
@tone17982 жыл бұрын
Man, great series Robert! I do enjoy and look forward to each lesson that you provide!! XO my good man!!!
@paulminorproductions2 жыл бұрын
If you break this riff down as 16th notes using the "one-e-and-a-two-e-and -a..." formula, it makes sense for the first note to be an up stroke because the first note is on the "-e-" beat (coincidentally the e note as well) which is an off beat. Specifically it starts on the "-e-" part of "four-e-and-a" and the fourth note of the riff lands on the first note of a bar, which is a down beat.
