If you’re testing a 410a system with r22 chosen on your gauges, are you testing or guessing?

Pressures are still pressures man. He wasn't checking subcool and superheat. He was checking how are the pressures. When you have this much differential it doesn't matter what refrigerant is in the app. It's clearly a restriction. Now I wouldn't go that far to offer a new system. It's only 5 years old but to each his own.

The TXV controls super heat, not subcooling

Thanks for clarification
@Samlol23_drrichАй бұрын
.....which is why you need to measure sub-cooling in a unit with a txv. (since the txv takes care of SH like you said. )
@christopherchance4860Ай бұрын
I think you have it backwards, SC for txv, SH for piston
@Samlol23_drrichАй бұрын
@christopherchance4860 that's what I thought also when I saw the post. but it's actually right because it doesn't say what you are thinking..... first thought is with a txv you use sub-cooling to determine if the charge is correct and with a piston you use superheat. BUT the reason you use sub-cooling to test the charge with a txv is because the txv adjusts the flow and regulates superheat.

Seems that you were recommending a change to a Bosch inverter/heat pump system also possibly including solar panels on his roof. How old is the current AC/Oil Heating system? What would be the pay back years for a complete new system? Also when the customer asked you to confirm that his AC was 5 tons you said "may-be" while looking directly at the 60 in the serial number. Why "may-be" for an answer?

8:06 it wouldn't be a closed or partially closed service valve, seeing the gauge port locations are on the line side of the valves and the high and low pressure was visible on gauge. the restriction could only be downstream of them, filter drier plugged(backwards/collapsed?), TXV said goodnight, some bozo kinked the lines storing junk where they shouldn't or someone working stepped on them. but probably not kinked line, guessing TXV is no bueno. no I'll watch and see.

Sounds like you pumped him down didn’t you. Unit four years old could have fixed that for 100 dollars. But you pumped him for 15,000. That would keep me up at night.
@harryschrysan3183Ай бұрын
I don't think you really mean that this fix would ne $100. You have to recover since this system cannot pump down, replace with new filter drier, change the TXV if that was the real problem (which most likely it is) test with nitro, pull vacuum and charge with new refrigerant. That would easily be a minimum of $800 in Canada. And I consider that a pretty cheap price! But yeah, I wouldn't offer a new system. That condenser was 4 years old and I assume the AHU is of same age.
