I would palpate more deeply, asking the patient to move the shoulder. If this isn’t good enough, I would use help from ultrasound

Ultrasound. Doing almost any procedure like this today ought to include the use of POCUS, and will be standard-of-care soon. Get it; learn it.

@@Jeph629agree. For procedures like this, where it’s impossible to know if you are in the correct anatomic space, it makes no sense not to use POCUS. Other joints this isn’t as much of an issue.
