Find out how and why our Rhino Rack failed and how we fixed it, plus the most amazing campsite with more bald eagles than we could Count!

Glad you guys are back out! Bummer about the roof rack. Looked like an awesome campsite and fun trip regardless. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah. That part really sucked, but the guys at Aero Teardrops are going to come through for us. Yay!!! Glad you enjoyed it!

Yikes! You all did an awesome job of NOT FREAKING OUT and putting together a plan/process for how to deal with things. Good lesson learned about checking all the bolts that are part of your vehicle/trailer/etc and make sure you have even the weird ones. It has me thinking as well that if something comes with unusual nuts/bolts then I would think about replacing them with something more normal. Seriously, these manufacturers are building stuff for people to use out in the middle of nowhere they should use parts that are easy to work on. (They probably think it will be a deterrent to theft but there are better ways of doing that). Another lesson for me: I just went and put some "duct tape" in my always-with-me tool kit! And, seriously, if you all are ever stuck somewhere in Central Oregon, just reach out. I would be very willing to come help out. (Though I am sure there is tremendous satisfaction in having been able to fix the problem!). Finally, you have left me with a challenge. I absolutely need to find that campsite! ;-). "I'm from Austin, not Texas." LOL! I did look up the Skyway Bar and Grill. That is on our list. And one of our sons has friends in Sandy who they visit when they travel out from Colorado. I'm going to recommend they check it out!

Yes. We learned a lot of lessons during this trip. We have seriously considered replacing those bolts with ones that are more normal. By the time we were done with the hex key it was almost toast, not sure it’ll work for another go around. Thanks for the offer of reaching if we get stuck! We’ll definitely keep that in mind, hopefully won’t have to take you up, although it’ll be good to see you 😊 Hope all has been well with you and maybe we can meet up soon now that we’re able to get back out more often.

We missed your videos. So happy to see you guys back out there, but wow! What a rough start to a trip.

Thanks! It was so good to be back, even with that rough start. It ended up turning into a pretty spectacular trip once we got the roof rack fiasco out of the way. Hopefully our next video will be in a few weeks.

@@CoasttoCascadia it was epic! Was that the John Day river? Such a pretty spot. I love central Oregon. We are on the NW Coast so a bit of a drive, but well worth it! 👍

I believe it was the Deschutes. We weren’t entirely sure. LOL! Just drove up on it.

@@CoasttoCascadia Or maybe the Metolius? Unless you were on or went through the Warm Springs reservation I suspect you may have been on the west side of Billy Chinook. I hope in a few weeks to go hunting for that spot - and the eagles. (I do bird photography.). I have some ideas.

Harbor freight is best place to get the tamper proof torx and hex bits. And I always carry gorilla tape because it is awesome for that kind of stuff

And I have been seeing more and more bald eagles over here in the valley, even one out in between Salem and Mt. Angel a month or so ago

I just discovered your channel. Thank you for sharing your adventure. I also own an Aero Teardrops trailer with the Rhino Rack. Do you know what caused it to pop off the brackets? Aero Teardrops included the necessary wrench with my paperwork, but I took the paperwork into my house. I'm putting the wrench back in the trailer right away, lol!

Thanks for watching! I guess just driving down the rugged trails, over time the bolts loosened up until eventually they got loose enough so they all popped off. We actually were wondering if we have the wrench back at home with our paperwork 🤦🏻‍♀️ I seem to remember seeing one at some point, if so we’re putting it directly in the trailer! Hahaha. Thanks again for watching!

@@CoasttoCascadia In the video you also mentioned some past trouble with the axle. Was that with the trailer? Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks!
@CoasttoCascadia
@CoasttoCascadia 2 жыл бұрын
LOL! No, that was on our old Land Cruiser. So far, other than the rack, the trailer has been amazing! The rack wasn’t even a fault of aero or their design at all. This trailer has held up through some of the craziest roads, definitely a great purchase.

@@CoasttoCascadia Thank you for the clarification! I just got my trailer last October, so I'm still getting used to it and wanted to know if there was something I should be watching out for! Happy travels!

Not a problem. These trailers are so sturdy and well made, pretty sure you have nothing to worry about.
