Stone sucked, outdated, non--commercial, no hit singles, they tried to rap, seriously, no! Reprise shelved it for a reason it was terrible. However, 21 was exceptional, this is one of Diane Warren's best songs, it should of been a hit but it just wasn't, lack of promotion and the bands lack of interest didn't help. You can say the music landscape was changing but they could of squeezed a couple hits out of 21 without too much trouble it was solid.

@@laurastuhler4791 I listen to a lot more from their first 10 albums than their last 10. Stone fits more with the first 10. All The Years and Here With Me are difinitely commercial worthy. The Pull is probably the best song musically in my opinion.

The entire "21" album, is, in my opinion, the best that Chicago had ever done, especially this song in particular. They should have promoted the "21" album on their 21 tour and history would have been made. It still rocks on well beyond its 1991 release into the early 2020s and is much better than the majority of modern rock. This is classic and modern rock simultaneously.

"21" from cover to cover is probably my top Chicago album. When I saw them on tour when they were promoting this album I was disappointed as others that they didn't play more songs from this album. I think they only played "Chasin the WInd" when I saw them on that tour. "Explain it to my Heart" is probably my top song on this album and when I met Jason and Lee several years ago on separate occasions they both agreed when I said this was a very underrated Chicago album. Lee gave me some insight and said when they tried pushing this song the stations were like we have enough Chicago songs and that's probably why it didn't chart higher. Other great songs on this album are "Holdin On", "One from the Heart", "You Come to my Senses", etc. Honestly not a bad song on this whole album.

Now we've got to say goodbye and I've got to be strong. So tell me one more time how it's better for the both of us? Tell me one more time how we'll hurt each other if we stay? Tell me one more time, then darling, there's just one more thing? Before you walk away, explain it to my heart? It's better that we're over now. Tell me one more time this is the way that it's supposed to be? Tell me that I'm better off without you? How it's better to forget about you? Darling, I understand won't you please explain it to my heart? Now, if I try, I can see the reasons why. Why we can't stay together, and I might convince my mind? But it's breaking my heart to know I've got to let you go. To find that, I must leave behind the only love I've known Well, I can tell myself that I never really needed you. I can tell myself that it's better just to say goodbye. I can tell myself about the lies But tell me now, tell me, how do I Explain it to my heart It's better that we're over now? Tell me one more time this is the way that it's supposed to be? Tell me that I'm better off without you. How it's better to forget about you? Darling, I understand Won't you please explain it to my heart? Say that I'll be better If we don't stay together Say that I'll be better off free. But don't say it to me. Explain it to my heart. @@jasonburger3533 One thing I notice about Chicago's songs is that they seem to feature more adult themes about relationships in their videos eg being married, and actors in their twenties maybe early thirties. Maybe it's because Chicago has more longevity, they didn't make many videos and weren't a Love Song Band in their very early days. All I know is that I only like their more love song period from about the mid 80s. Maybe these are the reasons why, to me, they have mostly GREAT songs but these songs aren't massive and hit the charts. A lot of songs gain fame more by hype and the artists notoriety rather than being GREAT songs. That's how I feel about artists and their songs over here in Northern Ireland anyway.

@@peterrukavena4955 When you say that you were there, I think you mean lived through that era when the album had been released and attended live shows. I saw the performance of "You Come To My Senses" on the Arsenio Hall Show through a KZbin clip. It was not their best they could have done. The "21" album was good, in my opinion. They should have performed every song from it live and made a video for each song. I do not know why they did not do that. I do not know why it was not promoted.

@@peterrukavena4955I agree that "You Come To My Senses" on Arsenio Hall somehow came in with none of the quality the studio recording had. It is a decent song, but it flopped on Arsenio Hall. They should have done the "21" tour for real and promoted the album as much as possible.
