This song has been stuck in my head for weeks and I knew it was on an episode of Gilmore Girls but couldn’t for the life of me remember which episode and the one line “inside out” didn’t help me find the song at all. Lol so naturally I rewatched the whole series to find it and of course it’s in the the very last episode. lol

Ok. A few were one hit wonders...yes. Katrina and the waves, Toni Basil, and the J Giles band.....however the others were massive for their time...modern English was awesome. Shaped the times. Along with clones psychedelic furs. You had to be there and in middle of the scene...the 80s were absolutely incredible. So we're the first 3/4 this of the 90s. An incredible time to be alive. After that I moved from Orlando to New Orleans for a few years ..then moved to Seattle right before Nevermind came out. . I got lucky. Was right in the middle of grunge post punk.....funny now I'm just an old man (56) living the simple life on land in the north Georgia mountains. Life is weird like that.

very elegantly shot. whatever you think of the concept
@mesolithicman164 Жыл бұрын
@@charliern I believe the cost of promo videos is carried by the band. Portraying them lying on the floor and hiding under tables as people walk by is kind of demeaning. And I don't see an obvious connection to the song, either.
@charliern Жыл бұрын
@@mesolithicman164 demeaning? it's a creative effort. people do all kinds of things for art. god forbid MLD had to lie on the floor for a couple minutes to shoot a very stylish video. the camera work is pretty brilliant. if the song was called 'upside down' would the meaning still be lost on you? 'top to toe'?
@mesolithicman164 Жыл бұрын
@@charliern No. That's where you're wrong. The job of the video is to sell the band. I cannot in one thousand years imagine U2 or the Clash or any significant band being expected to _lie on the floor_ in a promotional video. You only get that with bands who are too fearful to push back against the director's concept. There are half a dozen different ways to shoot that video to enhance the band's image. And in rock, grainy footage has more verite than a highly produced studio look. This looks professional and soulless. And the fact that the band probably had to pay for it only adds insult to injury.
@charliern Жыл бұрын
@@mesolithicman164if you think music videos only exist to promote bands you have a bizarrely 2-dimensional view of the world. and no sense of what art is about either! if we had things your way, the villains in films would never have to go to the bother of dying, action heroes would never have to do grueling stunts or workouts, the royal guard wouldn't have to stand at post for hours at a time. oh the inhumanity! how embarrassing for them! what a sad little worldview you have.
