I smile whenever I see the outside of Rhoda/Brenda's building...I lived in that tall building right behind (you can see in some shots) for a year in NYC, and it's actually on the east side of Manhattan, not the "west 64th Street" address the characters give.

Ramon was just adorable. Great actor!! So was Ron Silver. Ditto on Kenneth McMillan. And Kevin Delano. This show was so weird and so uniquely funny. Campy and cheesy too, at this point. We love the 70’s. Rhoda had such a soft spot for sweet/nerdy/loser guys.

Rhoda was the Seinfeld of the seventies...This show was brilliant...This is one of the best casts in US tv sitcom history...Each character was so natural, in how they interacted and acted with one another...Also, they seemed to, genuinely, like each other, also...Rhoda, even today, can stand toe to toe with today's best sitcoms and, in some cases, even supercedes some of them...Carlton ("Hello this is Carlton, your doorman") was a hilarious part of the show and, just like with Howard's mom, from "The Big Bang Theory", who, the audience never sees, that kind of mystery makes the show that much more interesting...Rhoda's sister and mom, Brenda and Ida, have the perfect personalities to play off Rhoda's multipdimensional character...The icing on the cake of the show are Gary, Benny, Jack and, of course, Johnny Venture...I'm glad I started watching Rhoda, again, after watching it, during my youth, in the seventies...Of course, now, I can appreciate it that much more...I'm surprised Rhoda isn't on TV Land...It's a pity this legendary sitcom only lasted five years...God bless the amazing, beautiful and very likeable, Valerie Harper!

"Rhoda" always gets a bad rap - people think the supporting characters sucked. I think it was in some ways better than MTMS! Today, I find it just as fresh and funny and original as it was then. I think because Valerie was just such a virtuoso actress. She had PERFECT comedic timing and was just a natural. She made it look so easy.

I randomly saw her at autograph conventions in L.A. several times during the last decade of her life. Now of course I hate myself for not speaking to her. I've always loved this show. I watched it during the late '90s on Nick at Night to keep myself awake when I studied for college exams.
@BenjiOrthopedic3 жыл бұрын
@@AnnusMirabilus well, you know what they say... "Never meet your heroes." I'm sure she was nice though. Those autograph conventions are (and I'm quoting another actor here) "for out-of-work losers." I don't know why she'd lower herself to doing them and I hope she didn't go to many. She didn't need to make a living hawking signatures and she worked almost up until the time she died. Anyway... As I said many posts ago, "Rhoda" was always sort of underrated and today is all but forgotten except by fans of old TV who (maybe) realize how good it is.

Rhoda working in this costume shop was a big mistake. The show should have kept the window dressing business concept and Myrna, Rhoda and Myrna reminds me of Grace and Karen's relationship on Will and Grace. By season 4, it seemed liked they didn't know what to do with the direction of the show. They also should have kept the characters of Gary and Johnny Venture. Jack was an uninteresting, unlikeable, poor-man's version of Lou Grant, very bad decision.
