What beautiful children ❤. My father was born in 1942 as the surviving twin from a twin to twin transfer . At the time, little to nothing was known about this condition so Dads brother did not survive even though he was over 7 lbs. Dad, by sharp contrast, weighed 1 pound 1 oz. They were born at home in a poor farming community and the doctor didnt hold much hope for Dad. He told my Great Grandmother to make him warm and comfortable that he wouldnt survive till morning. My Gran told the doctor where he could stick his ideas and wrapped Dad in soft lambs wool , tucked him in her best roasting pan and put him in the warming oven of her huge old wood stove. (A sort of cupboard built into the stove away from the fire where food was kept warm). She fed Dad withnan eye dropper and he lived in his snug little nest for the first 6 months of his life. People came from all over to look at the impossibly tiny baby sleeping in a roasting pan 😂. Today, Dad is 81 and one of the tallest men in his family! ❤

Wow. The idea of a tiny baby sleeping in a roasting pan is so interesting. I’ve heard of women in the past that would use a drawer taken out of their bedroom chest-of-drawers/dresser, but never of something for an even smaller baby.

This happened to us. My daughter lost the first baby in utero. The second baby was 17 ounces at birth and spent five months in the NICU. She made 5 pounds, they sent her home with no apnea monitor. She died two weeks after coming home, from SIDS, they said. After breast feeding (pumping) and bonding with her for 5.5 months. My daughter was inconsolable, and losing two babies altered her deeply. She has a little girl now, and that baby girl healed her heart. We are SO thankful.

There’s only one picture that was taken a few days after our birth and while we were both very small, I was much smaller. I was pale and lifeless while she was red all over and her head was huge. I needed blood transfusions and she had to have blood drained. We have been through so much together. She’s my best friend.

Ayyy, I weighed as much as a bag of flour too! Me and my twin sister were supposed to be triplets but the third egg didn't have a heart beat.I was very under developed and my identical twin sister took care of everything for me. A couple of weeks before we were born, doctors did a surgery to remove TTTS basically, but when that happened I didn't have much blood and my sister had lots. When we were finally born a month early, I was blue, and my sister was red. we had to stay overnight with my mother because we were born via c-section and I was very underdeveloped. Now I am healthy with just a couple lung spasms every couple years or so and live a great life with my sister. 😎👍✨

I’m so grateful your beautiful boys survived! My heart aches for those who lost twins to TTTS!! Our beautiful TTTS boys were the New Year’s Babies in 1980 in a small community in NE Minnesota. Born 18 days early via natural childbirth, Aaron weighed 6# 9-1/2 oz & 19”. 5 min. later, Ryan-in fetal distress- arrived and weighed 3# 14 Oz. and 17”. The attending pediatrician deemed him “a fighter”! It would be 2 years until we learned about TTTS. Now married and fathers of their own daughters, they are indeed a miracle!

Our daughter at the age of 22 was pregnant with identical twins, a miracle in itself as she had had a tube removed due to an eptopic pregnancy and was still pregnant with the twins. At 17 weeks she was diagnosed with TTTS, had laser therapy and lost one a few days later. This in itself is also heart breaking, having both twins scanned each time she went for a check up until Mark was born and then Jack who had not survived. Mark is going fine, but as pekka and speech problems but he is our miracle and a huge blessing.

Neighbors had TTTS twins at 29 weeks; neither had reached two pounds. They lived covered on their mother's chest for two months, taken off only to be cleaned or tubes changed in the day and for her to sleep some hours (not 8) on her side at night. Today they are flawless 10 year olds, running around in perfect health, which they luckily always had apart from being early and small.

Dylan had a 4 grade brain bleed and had a shunt put in his head to take off extra fluid at 1 day old. Thanks to all the doctors nurses and God they both are very healthy happy young adult men.

This happened to my family 4 years ago. My wife and I were so happy to know that is will be twins, but, after two month we was shocked by news that everything points to TTTS. Since this moment we were waiting for a propriate time for specific surgery to separate babies placentas inside uterus. We checked weekly babies vitals to know if something becomes worse. After all, we made surgery at 22nd week. As doctor said - it's 50/50 that all will be ok, but it's 100% that childbirth will happen much earlier than usual 33-34 week. And at 24th week all went bad, bleading, unstable vitals... no one given a chance for our girls with weight 470g and 650g, but they survived, and won the battle for their lives. Now i have two wonderful girls and nothing remains about all this nightmares. Thanks all doctors and personnel who made all possible and impossible to save this little lives.

This brought back so many memories of when I was pregnant with my twins.. we didnt have twin to twin but twin b had a slim chance of survival due to heart and lung diseases, we also got asked about aborting her and it could possibly cause issues for twin A (they arnt identical and they had their own sacks and placenta..so very different to your boys in that way)..but i felt the same feelings as you talked about..how could you let one go and have the other, knowing you let one go..I wouldn't be able to cope. Come delivery day the girls were born and I had that same goal all i wanted was to hear twin b cry..she made a squeaky cry and I knew she was fine. The twins are our 3rd and 4th babies. They are now 21 months and twin a is a little pocket rocket and twin b has her health issues and chromosomal abnormalities, 24/7 oxygen but she is smashing goals and the sweetest thing! Twin a was born 2.2kgs and twin b was 1.6kgs..born at 34 weeks..

I am also very glad that their sister did not suffer the same problems and was delivered naturally at full term, I know she's obviously not a twin, but you get what I mean, as well as the parents being such warriors also. Also, I find it really sweet how you can still see the size difference between those boys even now they are in school, you'd certainly know who was who despite being twins! Great job to the hospital as well of course, they clearly did a tremendous job at looking after those boys and their mother whilst there, because both twins are still alive today!

I saw the placenta put on a table right under the same window. 1 of my TTTS babies "stole" all the blood during delivery, that's how we explain it to others anyways, and how the doctors explained it to us. She was red like she was on fire, and the other was as pale as paper. It took months for them to even out. The crazy thing is, the 1 who was red, was the smaller one, the one all my doctors were the most worried about for blood loss during delivery. My daughter was born 7 weeks ago on 10.11.2023 at the RHFW, too. As soon as she was delivered I knew by looking at her that she had down syndrome. Soon after that was confirmed for me with a genetic test. I hoped at least she'd be healthy, but she had a PDA and AVSD. She soon deteriorated and stopped suck feeding because of her severe work of breathing. She was whisked away to the newborn care centre, too and the care and attention she received was second to none. She went to westmead kids to have her PDA repaired. That was a success. She then came back to Randwick childrens hospital, which is next to the Royal. She is still here at the moment, but her work of breathing is mild and she does not need any breathing support. She is still on a feeding tube and we are trying to get her to increase her oral feeding stamina. She has an NG tube because getting her to grow and gain weight is the top priority so she can have her open heart surgery at 5 to 6kg. She is just now starting to gain weight. I pray 🙏 she continues on this positive trajectory as she is the light of my life and my soul mate and I can't wait to watch her grow and find a place in this world and I want to help her do just that. I also pray for anyone who has a sick child. May yours, too, be healed.❤

Love this family support system! Most men, wives and/or children never get the support they need or deserve. A strong foundation of nurturing loving support makes all the difference in the world. A true blessing we all desire! ❤

This video should start with a short definirion of what the syndrome actually is, I've never heard if it.

Gosh, there's still a big difference in the size of the boys. I'm so glad they both made it, though.

What a inspiring story, I was born one month early because my mother was pregnant with me and she had preeclampsia or toxic mania, I was born at 4lbs-9oz, and I had to stay in the hospital for 7 days because I was so fragile and tiny, when I was 2 years old, my dad diagnosed me with mild retardation, but I’m still a healthy adult and I have some medical problems, but I’m dealing with them.

My sons are 28 now, they shared the same umbilical cord, I was watched and monitored from 6 months until I was hospitalized in my 8th month. Thankfully my small one wasn’t much smaller than his big brother and now he’s the largest of my children. I was hospitalized for 3 1/2 weeks at the end to try and keep them a little longer. They were delivered via emergency c section weighing 5lb 3 1/2 oz and 4lb 9 oz. My great grandmother had 7 sets of twins that died at birth from “stomach complications” which my Dr said was probably the same thing. She went on to have 13 living babies.

Never give up on life. I like that saying. My child was born with a chromosomal abnormality, and I too was given the option to abort. He's now a thriving teenager that I couldn't imagine life without. Never give up on life. Ever.

Isn’t it sad that doctors are so quick to suggest abortion instead of trying to actually help? 😔
