I just watched the video for the 3rd time, and this time made the drawing along with the video. It's making a lot more sense, although I don't think I will ever be able to intuitively know the plane to flip along or rotate on. But I can live with that. I thought of something during your "sales pitch": I think it would be inevitable that someday you'll hear "Oh! can you make the circle cutout a star? A heart? A unicorn?" 1. How do you deal with requests like that? 2. Is shape drawing something that will be explained later in the series? I'm thouroughly enjoying this series. I've taken a couple of other courses online, and one of the great things about your course is that you show what the student needs to know, but not a lot of other "Look how smart I am" tricks that only serve to confuse. And it's great that you usually repeat each new technique a couple of times to help the idea sink in. Great job. Thanks.

Whoops. It didn't take my whole reply. In the sales pitch, you will probably get questions like "Can you make the circle cutout a star? A heart? A unicorn?" 1. How do you deal with requests like that?. 2. Will drawing shapes like that be covered later in the series?

I use CutList Plus for creating my cut lists. It isn't as good as it could be for the most efficient, but is fairly easy to move things around. You can also specify to follow the grain orientation. I found it best to buy the upgrade. For small projects, the free version may do well for most people.

Great video, this is the one I was waiting for! One thing that may be able to help out a bit is instead of using the dato to get the dimension (width) of the Apron you can measure from the pointed tip, along the 45* angle to the other side of the board (click a second time) and actually get three separate measurements. As a third click you can pull down (parallel to the board) to get the width, or pull to the right (perpendicular to the board) to get the height of the cut or as a third option, pull parallel to the cut (parallel to the 45* cut) to get the length of the cut itself. Moving the mouse around will give you different dimension options.
@rhwoodshop6 жыл бұрын
I will give that a try and if it works out I’ll give you a shout out on a video showing people that option

@michaelmcdonough19896 жыл бұрын
@@rhwoodshop Glad you tried it out. Makes it a lot easier to copy multiple copies. There are a few ways to use this short cut. If you want several copies of an item, say 6 inches apart, copy the original and move it 6 inches drop it and then hit the X (times) and the number of copies. Also, you can divide a given area up equally by using the / (divide) by the number of copies you want. Example, you are drawing a bookcase that is going to be 48 inches tall and 36 inches wide with three shelves equally spaced. after you draw the sides and the bottom shelf copy it and move it to the top drop it and then hit the /4 and enter. Now you will have your bookcase with three equally spaced shelves. Try it out I think you will like it.

+epenaloza52 when you say tilt, are you meaning rotate just the mattress carriage? If so you will need to hide the cabinet that goes around the carriage which will leave the carriage only. Highlight the entire carriage and do the rotate function and rotate it along where the hardware will be mounted.
