OH DAD! On a Saturday midway through June, with a lunch party scheduled for noon, my dad thought it best to put skills to the test, which my mom said was inopportune. Though he’d never attempted to light the charcoal, he thought it was right to now give it a go for the burgers and so he dumped in the coals to ignite. From a demo he saw at the store he then doused them with fluid galore. When he threw on a match, since it didn’t quite catch, he opted to douse them with more. What a sight when the flames reached the sky! And the tips of the branches nearby. As was often the case, it became my mom’s place to make certain my dad didn’t die. She had come to his rescue a bunch. So with this time she called it “a hunch.” With the hose in her hand she protected our land and had pre-made some cold cuts for lunch.

Fabulous!!! Ha! Very amusing indeed, and with excellent meter. I especially like "As was often the case, / it became my mom’s place / to make certain my dad didn’t die." Thanks for sharing and for the laugh!

There once was a new indie plotter Who wrote a PB of his daughter He wondered if rhyme Was “true” all the time Denying his label of author But he carried on with the process Pairing i-dots and t-crosses Though fun and intentional Was still unconventional A true blend of near rhyming sauces. Thirty-nine stanzas completed the view Paid a fine artist for pictures she drew A publishing amateur Iambic pentameter? He’s so happy and lucky he’s found you!

Thank you Renee! We love limerick! I learned about it from my older son earlier this year who had learned it in school! I find it useful in contrasting ideas. Please see this one and I’ll appreciate your kind feedback. Thank you, Eva A Limerick based on Proverbs 9 Lady Wisdom is preparing a real feast With bread and wine and delicious meat To nourish the soul Of both young and old In her house all are loved by the King. Woman Folly offers stolen water and bread She’s so kind even inviting you into her bed But once you are in She’ll cause you to sin And destines you to eternal death.

Ha! I might only revise the last line to "which made the other frogs feel bad." Very cute!
