I'm starting to think that the claw marks on the right side of all the female cat's faces is a representation of the cycle of abuse, or atleast those who broke out of the cycle being forever scarred by it. Rhyolite doesn't have a scar because he never broke out of the abuse, he just carried it on once he was an adult. His mom, Foxglove, and his mate, all had the slashes by their eyes and ears. They also had all tried to either fight back or run away from the abuse, whereas Rhyolite didn't know any better, and didn't.

@@quiet2697 Oh yeah, definitely! I 100% agree, my only disagreement was with the "female victims". I actually caught that the black and white cat was male before that video released, but I'm not sure why. It may have been the "who is she?" lyrics as it was zooming in on Rhyolite's mother.

AHHH. Having seen all the wips, and read the comics, and such... I always thought that Rhyolite's mother put him over the edge in order to make him sing. The revelation that this happened directly after, or at least very soon after his father literally fell off the edge before his eyes... Just. Mwah. I wonder if she truly meant to put him over the edge too. My naive self always thought it was a test, but now I'm not so sure!! And as far as Rhy is aware, it wasn't. No wonder he's so proud of his singing, and no wonder Cinnamon just casually doing it after he did, and OUT OF LOVE, bothered him so bad!! His singing is what saved him from being thrown off the edge. This video is amazing! I loooove how well you capture the emotion involved in abuse and how the cycles repeat so violently. Having story behind Rhy's horrendous and irredeemable actions makes him so much more three dimensional. These villains are so great. Thank you for all you do!! -arti

Ooooo theory time!! I’m sure we can all tell where Rhyolite gets his murderous tendencies from. The half blind cat could possibly be his mother? I’m sure for a fact the blue and yellow eyes cat is Rhyo’s dad. He and the other cat did NOT have a good relationship, it was def abusive on the other cats part, and Rhyo’s dad had to pay the price for it. And the scene where Rhyolite is being held over the edge sent chill down my spine!! The other cat was probably telling him “and don’t think for a second that you’re ever safe, you could be joining him too, you know”. Another thing that leaves me curious is the smoke/gas/steam cats seem to breathe out of their mouths. Cinnamon (who I’m sure is the pink and Orange eyed cat) is and has been shown to do this. Rhyolite too. Could it be linked to a cats emotions? (Like Cinnamon after she and Rhyolite broke up? And Rhyolite did this after watching his father die.) Or is it possibly a sign of power?? The expression Rhyo showed on his face after looking at Cinnamon seemed to reek of envy, or even jealousy!! I’m delighted to learn more about his AMAZING story you guys have come up with!!!!! I love murder kitties!!!!!!!! (P.S: I hope I got at least some of it right lol)

I took a look at the Ode to Epilogue wiki once and the smoke steam thing is actually their soul. Its a skill Rhyolite calls 'Soul Singing.' Which implies he got so scared as a kitten his soul briefly escaped his body. He says only he knows how to use it, but when Cinnamon figures out how to use it despite his best efforts, well, he isn't happy. So he lashes out at her with his claws. The cycle of abuse coming back again.

AHAAA, ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!! 🎉 Poor Rhyolite! I remember how I tried to analyze him by his behaviour in summer, but .. I forgot to check this writing again and post somewhere eventually. But I came to a thought that he definitely was an abuse victim in some way, bc psychopaths behave without a care about feelings and he seemed rather to care. He had emotional reactions to some scenes So now I suppose.. He got this "magic "singing" ability" at the traumatic moment, then tried to use this to be adored, in future. But when Cinnamon appeared to have the same ability - it is either a possible competition, either a flashback to a bad thing I love this character!

I thought the mouth smoke stuff is just a thing they can do as a mating call, but it seems to be used in a fearful context here as well. Maybe my initial thought was right, and it just also doubled as a way to try to attract help in this case.

It’s apparently this thing called “soul singing”. They sing so powerfully their souls leave their bodies. He learned to do it as a child due to severe abuse and sees it as a gift. When his mate learns how to do it despite his best efforts to keep the ability for himself, he becomes angry and abusive.

OK so this is the first video I've seen of yours (hello!) So before I look for more lore in your library gonna toss my story theory here! I don't know who's who so bare with me. Bone spine/blind eye cat leads a group of cats (colony or cult who knows) by fear and manipulation. White cat is the point kittens mom, blind is the dad. Blind does not care for his mates and has many in the group. Kittens mom is fed up with this shit, and as a result is treated poorly leading up to her death. Dad is about to kill kitten too til he realizes it's inherited some sort of magic(?) Power the dad has (the breath stuff) so he allows it to live. He's probably eugenicing this power for some reason, if only narcissistic. Kitten is put with other kittens the blind cat thinks have the power, which at the least, the blue breath kitten has in variation of. Initially our pov kitten is excited to be around other kittens, and is happy but when he realizes the other kittens share his + dad's power he realizes he has to become a lot more important if he's going to survive and keeps dads attention, whatever that means for the other powered kittens.
