i get when the judges say this was too stiff and snappy in some places but his overall enthusiasm and rhythm overtakes it all for me. hes so genuinely happy to be there and he’s definitely a natural mover. this partnership is a DELIGHT 💛

Score: *7.5* Rhys was getting it at the beginning! The energy was efficacious for week two! Straight legs and the traveling were pretty good. At some times, it got a bit frazzled, but it matched last week for sure. I am definitely seeing Nancy as a veteran pro after this series is over. Enjoyed it from beginning to end!

He's very much like Karim and it's not just them having the same job. I think this is an excellent tune to Cha Cha to and some of it was excellent, particularly in the locksteps and Cha Cha walks, the new yorker could have been stronger and he loses hip action in hold. He's slick, he uses his arms well, he isolates his hips, his leg action is decent enough and he gave it a great vibe. The right sortta dance to get the show started off with, but I do think if John and Johannes weren't as hyped up they would have kicked things off as starstruck is a great tune to start with. So much better than last week may I say he's moving alot more and got his groove. Latin is definitely more his thing. *7/10*

Who else got a throwback to Jay Magennis dancing to this?! I did cos likewise with Jay I think we’re seeing a serious dancer. Very impressed with his arms and his performance. It may have been spiky for a good portion of it but I see this dance as a statement to the competition 8

TOTALLY! Same fan storyline too. Jay was way more connecteed to Aliona though. He did have a dance background via stage school which was evident to me from this first dance though. Their chemistry was INSANE! He is still my fave ever Strictly celeb. Rhys was good but quite disconnected from Nancy as he was conccentrating really hard on the steps. And h was deffo spiky. Jay's dance background meant he had to do less mental legwork and could stay more emotionally connected to Aliona. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYPOZHZ_pb6Bqrc

this routine is a bit too much disco in it for me and not enough of the actual cha cha but still it had good hip movement and a lot of energy and Nancy definitely gave rhys some good choreography to do in the routine so its not a bad effort and he will be a definite 1 to watch

Love how Craig mention somebody else's toes in ballroom(pointed in or hen toed but ballroom not too bad as ballroom requires straight toes, but nothing is mentioned here where toes should be five two and five past, but all the right moves and all the right placements just needs to stop and start so Jerkily. Just like the paso doble guy, let the music flow and breath into it. There's sharp and there's stilted. Got real good hips and real potential in legs

He kinda reminds me of Karim - a little bit too over the stop with the dancing. Hopefully he’ll tone it down and add more fluidity into his dances especially in Latin. No denying that he’s a great dancer, can see him getting far.

Oh. Maybe I set myself up for disappointment on that one, but that really wasn't as good as that amazing dance last week. He was a little stiff, and there certainly wasn't enough cha cha content in there.. i love them and they are good enough to deserve that score, but I wish I could enjoy it more if I hadn't got so hyped up.
@strictlyfan55

7 He looked much more comfortable in this style than last week's dance so he's moving in the right direction for sure. Lots of great footwork and amzing rhythm throughout his entire body. It's a shame about all the body-popping they put in. I don't get why celebs and pros do that as it always really distracts from the proper cha cha. Hip and leg action was very forced, and his upper body was very rigid and stiff. There seemed to be little or no connection between his lower and upper body so he needs to work on his fluidity and tone down the energy in places but I can see him growing into both the ballroom and the latin which is good.

Rhys's got great musicality! He was exactly on the beat of the song all the way through. His energy was superb as well - he was playful and cheeky, his chemistry with Nancy was outstanding. He definitely knows how to perform. However, technically, it left me wishing for more. His leg action wasn't very clean. He should have straighten his legs much more, he should have used his hip much more (there was almost no hip action). Some steps (like the "cuban break" or the "forward new york") were excellent, but others (his lockstep for instance) were lacking some attention to the technical details. Cha Cha Cha is (generally) about having one leg really straight with all the body body weight on it and the other one bent. If you dance with both of the legs straight all the time or with both of the legs bent all the time, you'll never manage to produce the hip action needed in this dance. It's only the transition from bent to straight leg that enables the dancer to create hip action. To sum up, artistically perfect, musically gorgeous, but need more attention to details, more polish. He has such wonderful assets already, I want him now to work on refinement. My score: a 6.

Good dancer but still needs to control his energy. He sometimes looks like a little puppy waiting for a ball to be thrown. Some of his arm movements were very throw away and looked too impatient to get onto the next move. No one can take away his enthusiasm and rhythm but he has to be careful, particularly in the slower dances.

I found him annoying to watch because, imo, he thinks he's better than he is. He needs to nail the basics before he starts to try and add embellishments. The cha cha walks were so wooden. He has great rhythm though.

RavenclawRumba Confidence is a good thing but yes, important not to think you know it all just because you can get a routine down. The key is in the delivery of the basic technique, not in the flashy movements.
