Rhythm in Samba | Horst Beer

German trainer Horst Beer collaborated with WDSF in creating this learning resource on rhythm and timing in Samba. The video was recorded in August 2012 during the GOC in Stuttgart, GER. Hi Horst. First I would like to thank you for your little samba lecture. We followed you and Andrea for many years. Especially the Lankenau Pirouette is a milestone in both your careers. Nobody was able to copy Andrea’s pirouette. You and Andrea are our favourites together with Oliver and Martina Wessel-Therhorn. I wished I lived near you I definitely joined your dance studio. FYI we are dutch dance lovers.

In reply to VitalTurbulence: when they count "slow a slow", they mean the first "slow" as 3/4, "a" as 1/4 and the second "slow" as a 1, full beat. I hope this helps.

I m so sorry the info is correct , but is danced out of beat value . 3/4, 1/4, 1 was danced as 1, 1/4, 3/4

If you count Slow a" Slow where do you find an extra 1/4 ? If I say Slow, Slow I assume they are equal, but they are not in reality, cause you have that extra a" (1/4). I see many teach this way and it makes no sense whatsoever.

Dancing reduced to gymnastics to a beat - the lecturer 'predicts' that the music will not change in tempo, will not syncopate, will not use polyrhtym. and will have no breaks or accents.
