Woo! Great to see another marimbist using Burton Grip (: I get so much crap for not using Steven's...

Burton is the only grip I know how to use as of now. I'm a junior in HS who played snare up until last year and due to health issues I'm now on mallets. I hated it! Then I learned my show this year and had to use double mallets, I love it and I've got a friend with this sheet music. My goal is to learn it by the end of school this year!

Bryce Boyd Well the outside mallets feel like playing a snare drum because your not rotating the stick rather doing a up and down motion on mallets 1 and 4, so I mean at least stevens wouldn't kill your hands lol....does your pit have tons of runs or just mostly cymbal rolls? I mean if you have runs, it would be really fun honestly. Pit isn't that bad :)

Really good performance!! This is gonna be my project for this year. Last year it was Michi by Keiko Abe. I'm so pumped for it.

What a great performance! you're dynamics are pretty amazing; you did a great job at the beginning. Also you're phrases are so freakin good. I want to play this piece maybe.

This is VERY good, especially that part around the 2:00 mark. I remember trying to get that part down (with Stevens's grip) and it was an absolute boar. Never got as close to you for a final performance. The dynamics of this piece are somewhat gradual in nature and can be a bit tough to really get the feel of and get the frog to boil gradually, but i think you nailed them perfectly as well. I also liked your transition at around 5:00. It really is a testament to your control of dynamics when the ambient nose of the church is more apparent than your playing, though you can still hear the notes. I guess I should also add that I did't hear a single wrong note. Bravo.

Good luck, this piece isn't easy. I've been playing for a lot longer, and it took me quite some time to learn it.

+Koen Direks how long did it take you to learn and perfect it

+Monica Cordero A few months with around 6-8 hours a week of practice solely on this piece, but I wouldn't say it's perfect yet :)

I know right, at least there's a second to relax at about 5:10. At least for me, it's kind of the time where I'm starting to lose my concentration, so it's good to have a minute where you don't really have to focus that hard

I've been given this piece to perform, and I have to say I'm extremely intimidated. I'm a freshman in highschool and my experience is Winter Percussion for three years (which is about two months a year and twice a week) and this year's Marching Band show. I'm 14.

Shouldn’t be too bad, if you are 14 you should be able to master it in at most a month I would say.

@@shadowkille8r99 And master it I did. I loved playing this piece any chance I got. I'm 21 now and miss playing marimba a lot.

Yswafel... awesome video! I wanna start learning Marimba. Do you have any advice for me to start? I'm confused on where to start learning it. Again: congratulation for your work. It's awesome.

Hey Rafael, thanks! It's kind of hard to give advice because I have no idea how advanced you are in your play. Keep in mind that it takes everyone a long time and a lot of practice to get anywhere, so don't give up if things get hard. If you want to learn to play with four mallets, I'd recommend starting with Yellow after the Rain. It's a good piece if you want to learn how to control every individual mallet. Taking lessons is pretty much necessary, as this instrument is more about making music than just playing notes. Good luck!

Yswafel Hello! Thank you for your answer. You're very king. :D I'm a beginner, but, as you said: I'll never give up :D. I'll follow your work and get inspired. Thank you.
