I've always done 5 note patterns as a 5 finger exercise for the RH, like 13524 or 14253, etc., and then sequence that through a scale, altered, or diminished, as well as diatonic, and thru a set of changes on a tune.. To split it up between LH & RH is a cool thing, and of course Chick does that in some very fertile and fresh ways for jazz as well as keyboard technique. I'm reminded of the cycle of 18 études by György Ligeti. Chick was a great drummer, and his rhythmic ideas reflect that. Also when playing 5 note 16th note patterns, it pays to figure out where, or when, it comes out in the music. If you plan ahead, you can finish on beat 1 of a new bar, or even do an anticipation on the end of 4. It just requires a little planning. I was fortunate to have known Chick, and took a few lessons with him. You do excellent analyses and I thank you.

Thanks for your very interesting comment! Yes, watching some of Chick's most recent demonstration videos made me realize how much the two handed approach played into his technique.
