日本語の「めんどくさい」は形容詞だから、bothersomeみたいな形容詞で発想したくなっちゃうんですよね〜。 It's a hassle to は使えるようになりたいです。面倒なことはたくさんあるからcountableでaを付けるのですね!

仰る通り、日本語は形容詞だから英語も形容詞だけを使って訳してしまいがちですね。 そして、countableになっているのも不思議な感じですけど、確かに、面倒なことが他にもあるからなんだと思います😉👍

That's a good question. meだけでは主語としては使わなくて、I が正解ですけど、 複数の人をandで繋いだ場合は: Me and Dave... Me and my kids... などを主語として使うのが一般的です。 フォーマルなら Dave and I... My kids and I... がよくて、 カジュアルな日常会話なら Me and Dave Me and my kids が最も一般的ですね。 順番も関係します。 I and Dave とは絶対に言わなくて: Dave and I Me and Dave のどちらかを使う感じです。

すごく楽しかったです。単語をただ覚えるのではなく、例文があるので「使い方」がとても良く分かりますし、また、こういう表現の仕方があるんだなぁ~と発見できてウレシイです。●My friend is so talkative, so it's a hassle to be with him. ●When my wallet and passport were stolen in a crime city, I really a wakeup call how naive I am. ●I thought I would miss my flight, but my friend kindly took me to the airport, which was such a godsend. ● I am still in the honeymoon period, enjoying every moment at new school.

ニック先生、It is nothing to do with this video but I have a question. What does this sentence means? “Nothing to do with not loving this place” and the sentence continues like “but I enjoyed my time there and met great people” I get so confused 2重否定. I love your videos by the way! My English had been improving. ☺️

ニック先生, thank you for creating fun useful videos! Can I ask something not related to the native vocab, if you don’t mind? I don’t completely understand whether nouns should be singular or plural in particular sentences. I know basic rules and I think I understand the difference between “They’re riding a bike” and “They’re riding bikes.”However, I still don’t understand why you say “their own way” instead of “their own ways” in “They have their own way of doing things here. You just gotta find a way to work with them.” (, which I found in the subtitles of a movie). Is it because of the word “own”? Then, would you say “They’re riding their own bike” when they are each riding a different bike 🚴 🚴 🚴? Or would it be still “their own bikes”? Or is it because of the word “way”, (something like whether the noun refers to a tangible or intangible thing?) Are there any other nouns that should be used in singular form like “their own[way]”? It would be much appreciated if you could answer my questions above here, or if your new video is about what singular and plural nouns actually refer to, that would be such a godsend!!😊🙏

A honeymoon period Wake up call A godsend I’ve spent lots of time in studying English but I could not say it’s practical because I locked of actual experience of speaking English in person. One day I decided to go abroad to put myself in an environment where I can train my English skills. I didn’t have imagined that this decision would be a wake up call for my entire stay abroad. The problem I faced was how difficult it was to have real communication with English speakers. At the first point it didn’t matter a lot because of the new fresh environment, which served like a honeymoon period and helped me to eased my anxiety. But in time I really felt an immense pressure that I should acquire English as soon as possible to get by easily and I didn’t want to deduce this great chance being in abroad for nothing. Finally, after 6 months of stay, I could have reached a point where I can enjoy talking with people here in a real meaning. While the decision of going to live foreign country was partly on a whim as a normal student upon wandering about my future path, now I think this choice was such a godsend for me.

I use “a pain in the neck” in the formal situation and “a pain in the ass” in the casual one. Is ”hassle” the same as those?

Yes, those phrases are also very natural and have the same meaning😉 You can also say: It's a pain in the neck to go. It's a pain in the ass to go. It sounds like a pain in the neck. It sounds like a pain in the ass. just like: It's a hassle to go. It sounds like a hassle.

📕godsend Yoshikage Kira mistakenly killed Hayato Kawaziri. It could be a clue for Josuke Higashikata and his friends to find and defeat Kira himself. Although Kira got dispaired what he did, a godsend came to him. His Stand “Deadly Queen” suddenly gained a new Stand ability named “Bites The Dust”. It exploded the timeline that Kira killed Hayato and undid what he did.
