Flair vs Steamboat matches were never disappointing. Have seen many on TV pay per view and video over the decades always really good to extremely good or better. They were the perfect mix in the ring against each other.

One of the things I appreciate about KZbin is the ability to get interviews and insights from some of the greats. Flair, Arn, Cornette etc…. Would have loved if earlier greats had this around when they were still alive.

I enjoyed the Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat match on TBS at the Clash Of Champions, better than anything going today. Flair also had a great 90-minute match with Barry Windham.

I just watched one of the Windham/Flair matches this weekend. And they could really go. Too much of it was punches and just beating the shit out of each other. I'd have liked to have seen more wrestling moves. I think Steamboat made an hour feel like more. Windham was someone I saw as a world champion back around 87. I thought he was gonna be a huge presence in wrestling for a very long time. Seems like him and Luger came in around the same time. And I guess Luger got the push. Then, Barry went to WWF and was The Widowmaker. Still a great wrestler, and even better on the mic as a heel in my opinion. But, Vince buried him. By the time he found his way back to WCW, Hogan was on his way. And it just never really happened for him. He's best known as a Horseman now. And I think that's a shame. He was truly a generational talent.

Ricky Steamboat was an underrated wrestler!

Big time! And I never have really been able to put my finger on why he wasn't a bigger babyface. It was really that he was just a pro wrestler. He didn't go out and give an epic promo. His mic work wasn't a huge mic drop. He just went out and kicked ass. His persona reminds me of Bret Hart without the catch phrases. His "thing" was simply a wrestler. I don't really understand why that isn't "good enough" for him to have risen to a more " legendary" regard. He was a rare canvas for true artists to do something special with. Savage and Flair. They were able to come up with matches with Steamboat that will forever stand the test of time. If I wanted to show someone a match to try and get them into wrestling, I'd show them Savage vs Steamboat at WMIII. It was a work of art.

I remember this match! Me and my sister were jumping on the couch it was so great! If performances like this went on nowadays the WWE wouldn't be going the way of CNN.

I am sure Mr. Flair does not this one. He did 90mins w/ Barry Windam at the barn in Orlando (Eddie Graham sports center I think?) in 1986. It was Awesome 👌 Jeff

I once saw them have a 90 minute time limit match that went roughly 80 minutes before a pin….it’s the best match I’ve ever seen live.

Back when Johnny Ace was first breaking in, when Ric worked with him, you could hear Flair telling him, "come on kid keep up with me". Johnny was blown up, but this was early in his career.

Flair/Race I would watch every time. Flair is spot on, only a few could last that long....but the truth is, if you wanted to carry the belt you have to have more to offer then a 10 minute pop...Flair and Race could go ....Flair had it all the mouth and the mission. Race was a close second. BTW Raven in ECW was just a talented as the champ. Comedians talk all the time about how hard it is too come up with material..Pro Wrestling is the same...that is why the major pay per view events have 15 matches or a long running battle royal.

Please get Ric a microphone. You can hear the echo in the room. Also why is the guy asking questions sound like he’s doing radio? Is this a radio show? Just ask the questions straight with a friendly banter like barstool sports does. You would probably get Ric to open up more.

When I was a kid, I didn't fully appreciate their work together. It wasn't full of devastating move and counter move. It was more like ballet. The pace and the endurance was what made it so impressive. As a kid, I'd rather have seen the Road Warriors destroy whoever in 10-15 minutes. But, I wasn't thinking about what it really took to put this kind of match on. It was art.
