Flair, you can say what you want about him but he is very smart and looks after himself, mentally in all the transitions he had to do to stay on top of the sport and leave with a champion mindset and not let the stupid hierarchy of WCW (which i believed had no idea had to run a wrestling company) ruin his longevity and transition to the WWE , he has always been smart on his legacy and title changes, Jim herd didn't look like he had any clue on how to handle the old wrestlers contracts and show respect to wrestlers and to where wrestling came from and how it could become bigger .....how they hired him I will never know.... regardless flair handled the NWA/WCW title properly and never looked back ......great story again ......great gold belt as well although I am more attracted to the look of the other nwa title before wcw took over ....that belt was very unique because it had the flags of the world on it indicating the world status of the nwa champion. ......now I want the replica of that belt on my wall......huge history of awesome champions.

That NWA GOLD BELT has never had one look anywhere near as good as it in any promotion since. The closest to it was the old AWA BELT Nick Bockwinkel had.

I sure would like to ask Ric if Jack Brisco used the figure four finisher before he did. And did he ever wrestle Rip Hawk or The Missouri Mauler.
@michaelrose56142 жыл бұрын
Jack Brisco was around a number of years before Ric...Jack was challenging Dory Funk Jr for the NWA World title before Ric turned pro.
@StarCityAudits2 жыл бұрын
Yes, he used it before Ric. The original Nature Boy, Buddy Rogers is the one who started the figure four.
@michaelrose56142 жыл бұрын
You are probably aware Ric teamed with Rip Hawk and Missouri Mauler would of been in the Carolina's at some point when Ric was, l am guessing he wrestled Mauler but I can't find evidence as l do have a compilation book of Flair matches from the beginning up until 1995 but would be missing virtually over 1000 matches....l just found 2 times Ric was on the same card as Mauler but not against each other. Charlotte Coliseum 8th May 1977 ...Ric and Greg Valentine vs Ole&Gene Anderson. Mauler vs Bobo Brazil....16th May at the Park Centre Mauler vs Mighty Igor Flair vs Paul Jones they both lost....and another one Hickory Motor Speedway May 18th 1977 Flair and Valentine vs Wahoo McDaniel and Mighty lgor and Mauler vs Danny Miller.

@@michaelrose5614 howdy, I’m a 60 yr old fan of rasslin since the 60’s. Growing up from just outside Charlotte NC, where Jim Crockett promotions, Mid-Atlantic Champion Wrestling, and NWA were the prominent organizations of that time and many great wrestlers of the past performed. I remember seeing Flair when he first arrived from the Minnesota territory and was introduced as cousin of Ole And Gene (before Arn)Anderson. Some of the old school greats I’ve seen include Johnny Weaver , George Becker, Mr. Wrestling (Tim Woods), Argentina Apollo, Sailor Art Thomas, Lou Thez, Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Paul Jones, Nelson Royal, The Infernos, Hiro Matsuta, Rip Hawk and Big Swede Hanson and many more.
