Yes indeed. He doesn’t get the attention he deserves because he’s not one to brag. I think he is the best technical and most creative in his field.

Jens father was the great jazz musician Jan Johansson. His brother is Anders Johansson from Rising force (Yngwiee) where Jens also played up until the Odyssey tour.Anders has also played with Hammerfall. Jens played on Dio´s album "lock up the wolves".

THE BEST KEYS ON THE WORLD! He has THE KEY TO THE UNIVERSE (if you know what I mean 😊). And now he's really HUNTING HIGH AND LOW with Rainbow 😃
@Stratoboli3 жыл бұрын
Love the comment and Jens stuff, but Key to the Universe wasnt played by Jens. Thats Tolkki’s solo project. Hunting is definitely Jens, but not Key. Wanna listen to a song most people dont know its actually Jens playing the keyboards? Listen to Sonata Arctica - The Cage

I remember when I first heard Jens with Silver Mountain, thinking that he'd be great in Rainbow. I got my wish. Unfortunately, this recent incarnation was the weakest version of Rainbow. The rhythm section tread too softly and Ritchie just phoned it in.

Wonderful player. I think a prank, at Jens expense, by the rest of the band backfired when they played the Glasgow Hydro arena. Every band can have a bad night .... but. They left him on stage playing solo for almost 20 minutes, while they all went off and as it transpired, to put on Scotland football tops, under their stage clothes. This was for a surprise good hearted gesture to the crowd in the 2nd half. Unfortunately Jens had to overun what he planned to play and his spot lost its shape. The good energy level the band had developed in the gig just evaporated with every additional minute he had to find. I had seen Rainbow in Birmingham the previous year and they pulled off a great gig. Ritchie later said that he felt they were nervous in Glasgow and that it hadn’t worked out (could see this on his face at the end of the gig) He seemed puzzled why this had happened. Take my advice, don’t leave a Glasgow audience band-less for 20 minutes. I’m not a nationalist but don’t open with “Land of hope and Glory” with a hundred foot English flag behind you, then pull on Scotland tops in the second half and expect Scots to get the joke. 😀 Glasgow is were Purple say they first realised they had hit the big time, in 1970. Sauchiehall Street had to be closed for 3 hours as thousands turned up to see them and their venue had to be upgraded. That same goodwill was there that night but the 20 minute gap just felt like being taken for granted regardless of the intent. Oh! and don’t muck about with several comedy drum intro’s to Stargazer. Seeing that song done with the passion it deserves was the reason why the Birmingham gig was so good and why most people turn up to see Ritchie in Rainbow. Ritchie actually put in the required shredding solo in Brum, which he never repeated in subsequent performances. A major disappointment. I saw a Rainbow covers band do a belting version of Stargazer at a gig with 40 in the audience, a few years prior.
