Hi Chef! What type of nori did you use for this recipe? Was it the salted variant or just the plain one?
@ropro98172 жыл бұрын
Looks delicious, but not thrilled that you have to use so much single use plastic to wrap it. Haha, sorry, I'm not a hardcore environmentalist or anything, but after having cooked at home since covid, I just really notice things like this now. Great video as always tho, chef!

@@miss_peregrinelearns3527 Just the plain one is fine, but salted one could be interesting to have a try!!😉👍 Sorry for late reply!!

I know you say this is not traditional, but cuisine is always changing and I don’t think this can be invented somewhere else other than Japan. This looks like awesome picnic food, I must save it for when the weather is warm again!

I made something similar with the leftover rice when I tried your Onigiri recipes. Very tasty! Will definitely try this version, too.

No worries MisterNightfish!! This one is so good too. Let me know how it went if you can!😉👍

@@CHEFSLABO It went really well! :D Usually here in germany people would just get bread (with saussage, cheese, lettuce, etc) as a snack to take with them, but I prefer rice + nori + something. I put some effort into making tamago as a topping for this and while I'm not 100% happy with that yet, it tastes really good and with practice maybe it can look good, too!
@kamikazitsunami2 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you put the egg sunny side down on top of the rice if it breaks a little it will get the rice yokey and not the nori. Looks yummy.

I love the Japanese thin-cut meat! I wish we had it here - British people prefer big, chunky cuts. Because of you, chef, I bought myself some cooking chopsticks. Very useful!
@KaeWinters2 жыл бұрын
If there's a butcher near you (or a butcher department at the supermarket) you can ask them to slice it thin for you. Alternatively, put it in the freezer until it's almost frozen through, then slice it yourself. It won't be quite the same, but close enough!

try a Korean supermarket, they should have it, or freeze and cut as suggested by Kae in comments. You will need a very good💎🥇🔪 knife to slice the partial frozen meat 😉

Would you please explain me about kinds of Japanese rice? I think there are three types of it.
@CHEFSLABO2 жыл бұрын
Hi พ พล!! I just attached the link of my rice below!! Hope it will help you!! Or you can use any short grain rice. No need to be Japanese brand. Usually Korean brands do pretty good job too!! Hope you can find those in your location!👍😉 tokyostyle.com.au/product/toyama-san-koshihikari-rice/

Hi chef! I buy こしひかり rice to eat. It is very expensive. Do you think varieties of short grain rice makes a difference? Thanks, and merry Christmas!

Hi again DeeBop!! Medium grain rice still do the job!! Or it doesn't have to be Japanese brand!! So try to find Korean brands then😉 They usually do pretty good job!!👍

Is there a substitute for sake? I can't use alcohol in cooking due to religious reasons
@KaeWinters2 жыл бұрын
You should be able to skip it no problem, or use non alcoholic white wine. It adds some flavor, but not enough that you can't enjoy it without!
@CHEFSLABO2 жыл бұрын
Also, have a look at the description aishteru85! There is a FAQ section for it!😉👍

These kimbap recipes look easy and healthy. I am wanting to look for healthier options outside of using bread and tortilla wraps all the time, with the chance I might be going back to school in fall it is important to me to find simple recipes that I can make for lunches and snacks. I am going to try a couple of these, however I will probably replace the egg with some other protein as egg don't sit well with me. Keep up the good work and stay safe. ^_^
@jennyyy62832 жыл бұрын
It's gimbap that was popular in Korea, but it's my first time seeing it made by a Japanese.
