I love Cruel Intentions. This movie is deeper, than anyone think...I've rewatched it so many times and it still makes my day. Classic plot but unique content between the lines.

The original is called “Dangerous Liaisons” from 1988 it’s even better set in the 1700s

Seems like yesterday when this was released. Hard to imagine they're all in their 40s. This movie really had a messy storyline but the actors pulled it off. And it never seemed sleazy.

@Veronica Rainone you know I am from India and in the mid-90s HBO & STAR PLUS, etc. had just arrived. We used to watch all these movies on TV as not all released in theatre here. Still I remember this film and a few others. This film had shady characters and grim plots but remained clean. No unnecessary sexy visuals or dialogues. And complete balance was restored when he changes. Beautiful transformation. But he should have lived and dated her. That's the typical Indian expectation of a happy ending which this movie lacked.

Here in this movie, Katherine didn`t want to admit to herself, that girls like Annete were NOT actually the reason why Katherine kept being dumped. - it was her own attitude to people (and to herself, in fact), - negative, revengeful, *ssolish :)) attitude, that can ruin any relations. But on the other hand, I wouldn`t call Annette a good girl either :)), because she crearly enjoyed her "status", being secretly arrogant. Otherwise, why would she boast about her virginity in a bl**dy journal, as if she`s a bl**dy saint? In other words, everyone needs a very good psycotherapist here! 😅

The 20th century version of, "dangerous liaisons". I actually perfer the 1988 adaptation or Valmont (1989) But this was a great update to the story. Ryan Phillippe (especially with the curly blond hair) looks like BOY I went to junior high school with (I was 14 in 1999)

Sebastian and Katheryn should have been endgame. Bad boy falls for a good girl is as cliche as they come. Sebastian and katheryn had on screen chemistry and deep bond that should have made them endgame rather than him betraying her and falling for some easy virgin mary.
