She lost 15 years of her life waiting for him! And only got him when he got old and tired and full of negative experiences after he had given the best time of his life to other women! Then she dies shortly after having him beside her! Does this not give you enough reason not to wait for anyone who is waiting for you to merely be attractive and irresistible rather than honest and pure!

That ending though it's sad, in life we really need to live a life without the person we can't live without. If we want to continue to live. Sometimes not knowing what you want in life is much better than knowing that the person you want and love to be with is longer their and can't even be with you no matter what you do. They're gone and you are just living your life as it is.

While I absolutely love the movie, the ending killed me; he was definitely a man child, and he should have grown the fuck up sooner and then maybe you would have been able to have more time with his wife. Still, I wonder if it really takes you that long to realize that you love someone. Do you really love them in the first place or do you love how they make you feel or the idea? Cuz it was evident from the beginning how she felt about him I feel like he took advantage of it.
@white_rabbit_foot28162 жыл бұрын
I think you are right about him taking advantage of her in the beginning, but at the same time I think she was his rock; the one thing he held onto while he was drowning in alcohol, women, and self-loathing. I think the story was great but sad in the end, the main idea of the movie is how she changed from an arrogant prick into a decent man and father. It's so sad I'm crying tears :((((((

There are so many men that don't realize what they truly feel until the one they love is walking down the aisle for someone else. Being more than friends and less than a lover complicates things. Unconsciously they feel it's better to stay as is and keep it special than try being a lover and end up just being another fling.

I thought that this was going to be an uplifting movie about humanity and love transcending baser challenges that confront us. I was wrong. I am genuinely puzzled by the empathy that the movie tries to elicit from the audience for these two protagonists. They exhibit the lack of ability to understand the well-being of others and consequences of personal decisions that everyone must learn in order to grow beyond a self-absorbed child. It concerns me greatly that this kind of adulthood narcissism is being celebrated. The message that *should* be broadcasted is that these two are in desperate need of counseling because of this dysfunctional dead area in their brains, or they need help navigating life as psychopaths while minimizing collateral harm to others.

No, I didn't feel that way. Not as a celebration but simply a tale of two people. It was simply the intersection of their separate lives that kept them parallel at other times. Which is why they kept in touch; him mostly when he was desperate. That guy simply had to grow up to realise her worth in his life albeit for a short while when Fate intervened for good & took her away.
@andrewhancock24512 жыл бұрын
@@naleenidas8444 : Of course you didn't feel that way. The movie glamorizes emotional irresponsibility. I suggest re-watching it and asking whether each decision makes remote sense for someone with an awareness of needs of others beyond self and of responsibility in addition to emotion. Acting *only* out of emotion rather than an awareness of the consequences of one's life decisions is what children do. You might suggest that I also re-watch the recap with your perspective in mind. But I am completely aware of that perspective. It's the one that Hollywood pushes. In fact, I'm not saying that there's no room for emotional needs, and you'll note that none of your narrative precludes mine in my originally posted comment. But if immediate emotional needs are the only driver of life decisions, there is no possibility for long term happiness.
