@Dolores D This is the weirdest comment I've ever read. Putting aside assumptions and the fact that the movie does not show whatever quick google search you got all that info from, do you really think the British man decided to tell them to go to Chinatown because he thought they treated other Asians like trash?

For those that didn't catch the mah jong hand at the end, Rachel showed that SHE would have won if she didn't give up that last piece, knowing that it would allow Eleanor to win instead. It's driving home what she just said, which is basically, "You won because I LET you win."

12:51 tbf, it's bc they're rich that they're able to more easily conform with modern interpretation of "attractiveness" (at least, on the outside). They can afford all of the big money make-up, skin care, other beauty treatments, stylists, personal trainers, dieticians/nutritionists, and medical procedures. It's just a lot easier to be prettier than average when you can afford it.
@surreallane97302 жыл бұрын
My Barrio girls are very pretty and just know how to take care of themselves. They shower their skin everyday and have their own remedies that work just as well. While it is easy to rely on fast food, there are ways to get proper nutrition on a low budget. Cooking can just be exhausting so i make enough leftovers for a few days and eat fruits and seeds. Habit shows on your skin more than expensive products.

As someone who's born and raised where they're at (SE Asia), it was pretty common for middle and/or middle-upper or upper class families to have house maids. I grew up with 4 housemaids (they're live-in, they lived in this cottage--cottage as in...think...ADU type unit, the cottage had 3 bed and 1 1/2 bathroom, kitchen, etc-- in the backyard that we provided for them), then we employed 2 chauffeurs, both chauffeurs lived offsite and a landscaper--the landscaper only came once a week though. The housemaids are usually "off-duty" around 10 PM (unless there's special occasions/parties, then they're paid extra), and since they practically lived with us, we paid for their food, basic needs and utility bills in addition to paying monthly for their work. We're only a middle-high class family so I can just imagine how many housemaids etc these wealthy 1 % people have. These days though, the housemaids are getting smarter and talk about unionizing, etc. They don't live in anymore and their service is more expensive too. But even one of my cousins, who has gone back to live there, has 2 housemaids now, but not live-in anymore, they just came to work at 7 AM then leave around 3-4 PM.

There is reason to have a part 2, ive read it. Second book was entertaining and movie worthy, but the third… i feel like we would need a short series. The second is about Rachel’s parentage and is a thrill, and while the fourth is about Nick’s grandmother and is sort of drawn out in some places but as I said, would be terrific mini-series.
