@@theshawshankinception1220 USC's BCS (and Coaches Poll) National Title in 2004 was vacated by the NCAA, but the AP isn't bound by the NCAA and that organization still recognizes USC as its champion from that year. Similarly, the AP also recognizes USC as its 2003 champion (split title with LSU, the BCS/Coaches champion), and USC's 2003 season wasn't vacated by the NCAA - only 2004 and 2005 (when USC lost to Texas). So technically, Pete Carroll still has two AP national championships on his resume, even if the BCS title is no longer officially recognized.

Everyone is saying Vrabel to the Pats. Why? Why would Vrabel want to coach the Pats, with a bottom tier roster, a building full of Belichik disciples and a fanbase with absurdly unrealistic standards? If the Pats start 2-2 next season the crowd will have already turned on Vrabel and be calling for his head. "Oh but they got a high draft pick!" I have never understood the fascination with Bill Belichick. I think most people do not realize that in football games where he did NOT have Tom Brady as his quarterback, Bill has a losing NFL record. Over a three-decade coaching career, Bill Belichick has exactly one playoff win where Tom Brady was not his quarterback. When he doesn't have the greatest quarterback of all time, he has a losing record as a head coach. In the meantime, Tom Brady goes to another team and immediately wins a superbowl. So who was really responsible for the success in New England? What in the world does Bill Belichick have to offer any NFL team anywhere if he doesn't have the goat calling the signals?
@pickettmandi
@pickettmandi 8 ай бұрын
Didn't the Patriots defense hold the best offensive in the league to 3 points in their last superbowl victory? Was Tom playing defensive end? How about the greatest show on turf? How about those high flying Peyton Mannings Colts? Your take sucks. This idea that if a coach wins with a great quarterback that's somehow of a knock is ridiculous. EVERY coach that has ever won in this league had great quarterbacks. Bill drafted Tom and developed him into the goat.

@@shazanali692 What? So you're telling me one good tactical decision somehow makes up for the fact that the guy has a losing record when he doesn't have the greatest quarterback of all time? What is he done with this football team since Tom Brady left? Well, it's the second worst team in the entire league and last place in their division. And it started the moment Tom left. Tom goes to the buccaneers, which had a losing record the year before, and wins the Super bowl. Come on man.
@richardbullwood5941

@@pickettmandi Empirical data is empirical data. I don't know what's so hard to understand. Bill Belichick has a losing record in the NFL without Tom Brady. Not even .500. Only one playoff victory in multiple decades of being a head coach. Tom Brady's last year in New England they had a 12 win season. They had a losing record the very next year, and bill has turned that franchise into the second worst team in the league and last place in their division since. Tom Brady goes to the Buccaneers, that had a losing record in 2019, and takes them to a Super Bowl win the very next year. If all of those wins are Bill Belichick, why is he such an abject failure the moment Tom Brady leaves? Tom Brady showed he can immediately win a Superbowl wherever he goes. Bill Belichick shows that he has absolutely no answers without Tom Brady. He certainly should get some credit for drafting Tom brady, but he has been well rewarded for that. Because without Tom, he's just a losing coach with a history of failure in the postseason.
@chrisolivo6591

Belichick should have retired once Brady left. I had been saying for years he was overrated. As the Browns coach from 1991-95, he won 1 playoff game. The last 4 years exposed Belichick as the guy literally did nothing without Brady. Parcells won 2 SuperBowls with the Giants and then took the Patriots to the Superbowl. Then took a 1-15 Jets team the AFC Championship. Gibbs won 3 SuperBowls with 3 different QB’s. Walsh was smart as he retired on top after winning his 3rd Superbowl and preserving his legacy. 1/3 of Belichick’s coaching career are losing seasons, the other 2/3 were with Tom Brady.

@@Kube_Dog In the cool words of image making race politics, 'Cool dat'. I think Deon was a tremendous player. He deserves what he earned. The jury hasn't yet begun to gather on Deon's coaching skills, except for the typical band wagen yokels.. But I've never seen a gold chain and cowboy hat coach using 'I promise you dat' everytime he speaks. Only Bum Phillips was a real cowboy who became a coach. Deon doesn't know Jack about real ranching or cowboys. He looks stupid in that hat. I hope he gets great recruits to win with, BUT college is supposed to be about education, not games. His AD is a better life coach than Deon is. There are some ugly statistics about the success of NFL players directly related to the lack of education and misguidance from common sense. Granted, college is pretty screwed up in a number of ways. I'll wait some years before I judge Deon as a Coach.

Bill is overrated, he struggled prior to Brady and he struggled after Brady while Brady kept finding success with a new team.

All these older coaches are getting past their tenure and wearing out their welcome, such as Pete Carroll, Belichick and Ron Rivera. Perhaps, it's time for Sean Payton. At least, Pete Carroll is being retained as an advisor. Maybe, Belichick didn't want to be advising. It's time for the young blood to take over.

I dont see Bill going anywhere but the Chargers or Commanders. If he plans on coaching for the next 5 years id say the Commanders are the best fit. 2-3 years id say the Chargers are closer to being a "complete" team. Also, Nick Saban left before his legacy is ruined by a level playing field.
