Tatum & Brown already put themselves among the modern day Celtics greats like Paul Pierce & KG. What a wild story that trading those two landed them JT & JB. Finally, a level headed take. People are glossing over the fact that this Celtics team is 16W 3L the entire playoffs. You can say that they had the easiest path due to injuries but that's not really their fault that their opponents are not healthy. They still had to play the games and win.
@DeeMan17

They had a historically easy path. They prob still win, but not sure.
@keexko
@keexko 4 ай бұрын
@@DeeMan17 1. 16-3 is still a dominant run. 2nd best run in the 7-7-7-7 format. 2nd only to the 2017 Champion Warriors who went 16-1. 2. It's not their fault that the opponents stars are injured. Their opponents did not lie down to concede games or forfeit, they still played. 3. The number 1 seed has always been given an easier path. It's their advantage for getting the top seed. They're just a better team this year and proved to be the best at the biggest stage no matter how unimpressive the victories were. Not even a Celtics fan mind you, but they shouldn't be discredited for their opponents weakness. If anything, the blame should go towards their opponents.
@DeeMan17
@DeeMan17 4 ай бұрын

@@DeeMan17 You can choose not to give them credit, that's your preference. But even you had to admit they had a "great record against everyone except Denver." Regardless of whether you give them credit or not though, there's a ton of quantifiable stats - even going back to the regular season - that prove they're a great team.
@brianshorey
@brianshorey 4 ай бұрын
Easiest path due to injuries? They were missing their own starting center for most of the playoffs, how come nobody mentions that. And easiest path? Sure, whatever. The narrative was they had an easy path in the east but would get crushed by whomever came out of the west. Now that they steamrolled the Mavs, the narrative has changed to the Mavs weren’t a great matchup.

I contend that it is because we live in the age of every season being an “asterisk season”. It’s the stupidest thing. When you allow the narrative around one season to driven towards it being some sort of asterisk season, when the winning team didn’t get caught cheating in some way, this is the side effect of that decision. If someone says a team that won a championship, should be treated as if they didn’t, without being called out for it, you end up here. Just a few short years down the road and now every team gets a new asterisk. No matter how good they were, they get an asterisk that delegitimizes the credibility that their records said they deserved. Congrats to everyone fighting to give every season an asterisk, until it’s your team that wins.

I've got the real answer, the game just doesn't look good. Not the teams fault, but the offense is boring, even when its working for almost every team. We dont get posters, we don't have people getting beat 1v1, going to the other side and doing it back to the exact same guy who just did it to them. there is to much match up hunting, to much 3 point shooter standing in the corner being the offense, and to many free throws. I even like JB and JT for how they play, they have a great viewership quality both of them, Kyrie and Luka as well, though Luka trends towards Houston Harden IFYKY, that isn't the best either. NBA needs to address watch-ability of the games.

Celtics won the 2024 NBA Championship because Kevin Durant went back West in 2023 , Lebron James left Cleveland Cavaliers for Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 , Giannis was injured on the Milwaukee Bucks, Jimmy Butler injured on the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors didn't make the playoffs. Easiest way to a Championship. Congrats on winning the chip anyway Boston. 😂

@@idw9159 And you do realize that LeBron owned Boston when he was on the Cavs, Miami beat Boston last season (when fully healthy), a healthy Bucks team with Giannis is getting past Boston and Steph Curry and Warriors beat Celtics in the 2022 Finals. Nuff said. 🎤 💯 👍👌

Scariest part is everyone is under contract next year and with the monkey off their back they will be even better. Horford will most likely retire I would think. I know people say Tatum averaged more points, rebounds and assists but also took way more shots and just seemed browns big plays were always at pivotal moments in games. Not to mention picking up Luka at full court and by the 3rd quarter in game 5 Luka was walking up and down the court gassed. "Finally champions " Tatum and brown are 26/27 yrs old? It's just starting.

It’s hard to rank a team that had such a charmed run. Heat-Jimmy, Cavs and Indiana are all below par. Made Dallas look bad which was a big ✅ but everyone knows a full strength Bucks and Sixers are the toughest opponents they have in the East. Also no match up against the Nuggets. It’s not Boston’s fault, but we didn’t see great opposition. The luck was incredible.

full strenght Sixers? What are you smoking man, it must be good. Only thing Joel can do is whine and beat people up, they are full strenght as of now and couldn't even take the Knicks out. Plus, we faced the Sixers two years ago, you remember what happened.

Ok I thought I was going to watch a video of them actually keeping it G but I will. Yes Bos won the title and this team is well built. But this is not an historic team and the playoff run had opponents that were not full strength. Here comes the “well Porzingus did not play”. That doesn’t compare the other teams not having the best player or missing 3 of there top 6 players in some cases. So let slow down on this “one of the greatest teams to win a NBA title” nonsense

these celtics is dividing all into two parts. the first camp thats the obvious admirer of an elite manly man thats the big willi raRARA chad of the troop with one or two adlatus´ maybe and he completely dominates and owns the opponent. second part that sees bball as a teamgame, that shares the ball the score and everything else with the others, even the weaker players of the team. its almost like theres a blueprint for two different society models bases. and tatum et al are just happen to be winning in a time whre the big willi talk is still on its height since the jordanizer times. who just wanna praise THE ONE but not the team

Jason Kidd said after the drubbing of the Mavs in game 7 that "Luka is one of the very best players on the planet." Huh? One of the best players on the planet wouldn't crater like he did with his poor percentage in the game from downtown. The ball sticks too much when he's dribbling around often aimlessly. And his laziness on defense is appalling. Two or three plays in the game loose balls near him he made absolutely NO effort to go after it but stood their like a statue. Luka has way too many flaws in his game that totally ruin his other personal abilities. No Jason Kidd, Luka is period, full stop NOT one of the best players on the planet despite your bias and your delusional thinking.

They earned this title, but let's not act like we don't know why this is not being considered an all-time run. They didn't play any of the best teams in a weak Eastern conference, and the teams they did play all were hurt to some degree.
