50 years ago I arrived in Tehran from Istanbul. Tehran was a major stop on the journey East, or Hippie Trail as it became known. Thousands went on this incredible adventure. Thousands stayed at the Amir Kabir hotel, I certainly did. In 1974 I caught a train in Istanbul and 3 1/2 days later I was in Tehran, incredible and it was only $4. I shall return.
