To all the people that are posting negative comments, give the guy a break. If you dont know what hes doing , you shouldnt be attempting this. The carb has a D-shaped tool on it that gets adjusted (which is what he is doing here). That changes the air/fuel mixture. To do it you usually have to remove the tank for easiest access. Or there are long extension tools that fit the d-shaped screw. He must have a modification or an aftermarket screw installed (which i also have- glens permanent screw ). Its well worth the $40 or whatever it is in case you ever need to do this again. But, you usually only mess with it when changing exhaust, airbox, etc. It extends down by the idle screw (black knob) which he is also adjusting in the video. You can damage your engine over time making adjjustments if you dont know what you are doing.

Your video would be helpful if you actually show the screw your adjusting. Can you do that? What's the point if you don't?
@rostang508 жыл бұрын
I agree with last 2 comments, can't see what your doing to adjust it
@spanky5226 жыл бұрын
What he's not showing here is the air mixture screw adjustment. The screw itself had a D-shaped head which requires a special socket head (or tool from Honda) to be able to adjust that screw. Some have just removed it and cut a slot in the head of the screw with a hacksaw or Dremel tool so you can use a flat screw driver to adjust it. Or you can get that small socket off Amazon for a few bucks (what I did) that slips into a 1/4" socket driver to adjust it.

You're correct. Glen's VTX Garage sells a permanent A/F Screw that you can easily adjust, even when sitting on the bike.

You can also make the D-shaped tool from a 5.56 mm NATO or .223 shell by flattening the 1 side.

The, "screw" is located just below the air filter box. And if you're watching this video, I would assume the watcher knows what they're chasing. Props, Bud!

If you find this so called illusive adjustable screw which way should it be turn to make it rich...The other direction obviously make the carb lean... I have an 07 and use this screw but multiple videos I've watched seem to never show or state which way to turn it...Seems kinda weak to be considered an educational video

I put a 185 jet in it after I installed new cobra slip-ons and she is back firing quite a bit. I didn't really give it a chance to warm up a ton, so I'm going to try actually warming it up more. When I hit the throttle it boggs down and the muffler starts to back fire.

To get a bike to sound like that you'll have the carburetor off and rejet it three or four times. ??? Then the fuel-air mixture screw you'll have the carburetor off three four or five times to adjust it. The idle speed is the knob right there on the airbox easy to find. !!! It takes a special screwdriver that you can't buy that's a d shaped to adjust the fuel-air mixture. ??? There is a special fuel air screw that's on a long spring. Six and a half inch long for stock air box 5 and 1/2 in Long for aftermarket airbox that has a knob on it that you can just reach right down in fine-tune adjust. !!! But no shop is going to spend 6 hours and doing this and your patience will not hold up long enough to get it right. You can't afford to have it done this way. ??? And if you don't have OCD a true perfectionist.!!! You'll never have a bike that doesn't stumble fall on its face or burn up the pipes and the valves in the motor. ??? They do sell the special d screwdriver.!!! The air fuel adjustment screw is behind the bowl closer to the center of the engine but you won't be able to find it unless you pull the carburetor out and bungee it and maybe use a mirror to look up behind the bowl to find it. ??? That's why no one tells you where it is how to adjust it. ??? Are you willing to take the carburetor off six or eight times and spin 6 to 8 hours to do it perfect. ??????
