Rich Mullins was the real deal! An authentic person and God fearing human. Rich was an incredible Christian artist whose lyrics bring me closer to God. Simply amazing!
@gentleben15907 жыл бұрын
All these new Christian bands sound the exact same with cheesy lyrics and "poppy" sounding music. Rich's lyrics were about life (struggles, dark times, happy times, etc) and his music was original. Bottom line, he was authentic and real. I miss him.
@Ncebulsky3 жыл бұрын
This is the reason I love Rich's music. It's more about the struggle with living a mortal life.

@lifetodamax4 жыл бұрын
Indeed. We are not as strong as we think we are. A young sister in Christ died suddenly in a car crash a few days ago, like Rich. We are frail and Christ is our only hope.

I remember seeing Richard Mullins in concert at Glenbard North High School at my school. Standing room only. It was packed. After hearing his death on the radio while driving, I had to pull over to the side of the road and I cried. His music lives on. God took him home too soon. RIP Richard Mullins
@geebee3100 Жыл бұрын
in my mind's eye, i can even see you pull over and cry... ashley cleveland, in an interview, said that when she learned of his death, she first said, "oh no", but then immediately thought that that was an act of God's love and compassion... i agree... the world can be a painful place, and rich just got promoted to a better one 💗
@ajromo3458 жыл бұрын
The thing that I really loved about Rich Mullins is that he took all of his lyrics to heart and cried whenever he would sing them live. Why?! Because he's said so many times in many of his interviews, these songs are more than songs, these were prayers!!! How amazing is that?! God bless you Rich!
@michaelbartosh8203 Жыл бұрын
I agree
@geebee3100 Жыл бұрын
very true... not just the usual phrases, but colorful language from the depths of a humble heart... not just lyrics, but prayers cast in music... he so often just sings over the bars, fusing words and music into an offering rising to the heavens like incense... 💗

Who in the world is voting down Rich Mullins? These videos are such a treasure and I am thankful that other people have uploaded so many hours of his live performances. I never got the chance to see him live and his talent shines through so much in these performances than it does on his studio albums, where sometimes the production masked the genius. I miss him.

The same youtube phenomenon used to bother me to distraction... but then one day, visiting one of my favorite videos (Bach, Brandenburg 6), I noticed the ‘thumbs down’ had been de-pressed... by me! The horror. The horror. I was “that guy.” But how? But why? Well you can be sure, I quickly remedied this grave mistake.. but also then and there realized that just as a certain percentage of time, misplaced thumb taps on touch screens accidentally pause videos, refresh pages, link unintentionally to to URLs... (we realize these errant taps right away) but another percentage of time, clumsy thumbs unknowingly hit the dislike button... even, the horror, on heavenly music like Johann Bach or Rich Mullins. “Hope all, bear all, believe all..” In the spirit of that verse, this is how I account for the 9 or 10 downvotes here =] By doing this, I thereby preserve my last bit of hope for humankind ha ha ha.

his voice is really tired and strained but the simplicity of his performance and the beauty of his words are like a river running deep and true from the throne of God into our hearts. When I am strong, the Lord is my strength. When I am weak, He is an even greater strength.
@abc7842 жыл бұрын
He said that he didn't like his singing voice very much, that he liked it better than his speaking voice but he didn't like his singing voice all that much. He said that when he told that to people they would sometimes recommended that he got a lead singer, someone else to do the singing. His response was "no because I love singing to the Lord, to me it's the most endearing thing". It's one of my favorite quotes

Woke up to this gem looping in my mind...'cause oh we are not as strong as we think we are...Why as a Christian culture do we choose to follow the pattern of the world as if the world's way has it figured out. God anoints music and it moves fuels the spirit and moves the soul. Christian music should not be categorized in the 'new' and the 'wow' of a top ten chart one day and shuffled off the turntable the next. Someone in the music industry grasp and implement this God concept, please.

@chasinherhorse - :) Rich said he got that a lot, girls coming up and saying "I'm your soulmate!" or "God told me we are supposed to get married!". I think a lot of it was just confusion with "Rich Mullins" the public guy and who he was, who his friends and family saw. (They weren't even allowed to call him "Rich", he would gently correct a young family member for addressing him as "Rich") i do agree that it was def. God's plan for Rich to stay single. He was able to do so much more!!

I believe, God must have needed Rich in Heaven. But, y'all are correct in saying there was no one like Him. His ability out measures the ability that is out there's today. When I say ability, what I mean is he articulated and orchestrated God's heart, God's perspectives to humanity and the walk of following, God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in the way he expressed it. He was the essence of humility, fear of the Lord and a man firmly rooted in his security in God and not in the things of this world. He was a man on no reputation, because he himself was making God's name and reputation known to all. Jesus Christ is my ultimate hero, my earthly father and Rich Mullins. I can't wait to worship with Rich toward the God that gave it all for His people and the world.
