Stanley was helping his friend, but you were helping your aunt, your parents were the same old selfish people. Man, you need to give the money to the person who had your back.

No one seems to address the obvious: Is there any guarantee that OP's money would do his father's any good, or would it just be throwing good money after bad? it seems like the money going to the business would insure that no one would benefit. Besides, if you give your word, you'll lose your integrity if you don't.

Let me get this straight, Op family dumps him because they considered him a waste for not going in the family business just like they did awesome Aunt, but years later they expect op to help them out like he owe them? What op does with his hard earned money his up to him, my advice to him is look after those who look after him, and cut toxic people off.

With the exception of the Aunt and her son Victor it seems they Op has some messed up family values with his father being the worse of them. The father should figure out that you can't disown someone and expect them to bail you out

Ok, I am confused! How does OP giving his father money for the “business” help the brother pay for his girlfriend’s mom’s hospital bills? Is the money for the business or for the brother’s personal bank account? Is brother embezzling money from the company? 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

The brother works for the company. The brother has used his savings and part of his salary in order to assist his girlfriend’s mom. If the company fails the brother will lose his income and become unable to assist his girlfriend’s mother financially.

All I can see is that op managed to get away from something that is falling apart before it happened. The father only wants control over everything but the moment someone goes left when he said right, he loses it. He has an oversized ego and doesn't see the bigger picture. It's ironic that he looks down on the people that he deemed worthless and useless, yet here he is come crawling back to his son that didn't want anything to do with the business, begging for money. I would have said that he just wanted the money so the aunt wouldn't have it but seeing that op's brother got a new job makes me wonder what did op's father do that lead to him begging for money. Wait, I just thought of what might have happened. Didn't a NFT or crypto company, which turned out not to be an actual company, con a shit load of companies and businesses as well as famous people? That explains why the father did explain the whole reason of asking for help for the business and why he was desperate to asked op.
@xhagast Жыл бұрын
The NFT or crypto thing are likely. BIG profits with small investment and no work. Tempting. Foolish. I LOATHE crypto. For not crashing years ago. The longer it lasted the worse the crash would be, and the more people would get hurt.

I'm on the OPs side on this one, the way his father kicked him out calling him a loser etc, he doesn't deserve the help. Plus manipulating others to treat the OP that way is shameful. Personally I'd of denied helping dad but would of tried to help the brothers girlfriends mom if I could

OP's father is a bully. His mother is weak. His aunt is scared of her brother. So I'm proud of OP because he is his own man, because he fought for his own identity. Bullies are cowards at the best, but they are scared because they're missing an integral part of their humanity and seek constant red for recognition.

OP was right on the money in the end. tried to get a little weaselly, but finally straightened out. cutting off daddo was a complete no-brainer. shrugging off the support of the cousin was seriously weak, but that didn't end up happening. but still, the move in that direction initially was WEAK.

Daddybob endlessly threatened, gaslit, and lied to OP. OP's biggest sin was giving dad any benefit of ANY doubt. P'raps naivete, but screw dad, he can sell apple cores on a street corner. He was nice to help Stanley, tho, Stanley may have not been a saint but seems genuine, just dependent on the sperm donor for a job.
