You guys ROCK. You carry the message amazingly well. I'm 20 days sober. Medical detox. THEN dui. I'm in IOP now. Counseling. The exercise and veganism allow me to reach the inner parts that hurt and lash out. AA has been helpful. Solid very solid advice You give. Thank you.

I started writing my life story about a year ago. I read books on story telling/memoir writing and the structure suggested was to do it by chapters with the first 1-12 years, teenage years, then 20s, 30s, etc. When I got to my 20s, I didn't want to look at that decade. I had addiction issues and lived at the beach in So. Calif. for a large part of it. You can probably imagine the reason for my aversion. Once I started to do the work, some things that I had kept hidden surfaced, which was pretty awful to look at. I took time off from writing it because it depressed me. Then I got the idea to write a journal on what was coming up. That helped a lot! Being willing to look at the unbearable stuff takes courage. Honesty gets you to where you can separate yourself from the experiences, finally owning them, and at the same time become the observer of your life. You are never too old or too young to get sober and/or clean. The same holds true for writing your story.

When I look at the Andrew Tates and Jordan Petersons of the world, I really wish more young men were finding people like you instead. They'd be 1000% better people.
