So happy for you And Addie, Han, that things are getting better and better with your riding and Addie's behavior (due to illness's, I know). You really deserve all the joy you've had with her this season, and may it carry on for many more seasons to come now. I always love listening to Rich's lessons; even when he is being really nice, his is still sharp and funny. What a great lesson that was -- thanks for sharing it :)

Rich imparts so much knowledge that is helpful for those of us learning vicariously- and he has such a dry sense of humor - love seeing him on the vlog. And you and Affie really are communicating so well now - looking forward to seeing what more’s to come for the two of you!!

GIRL! That was a fabulous lesson. And so many "goods!" from Rich--I nearly fell over LOL. Affie looks A-MA-ZING when she is connected. It's hard to believe that with green horses you really DO have to ride every single stride, but you do. So the key is to keep Rich's voice in your head when you school alone and just keep thinking "inside leg to outside rein" over and over and over and over, ad nauseum. And then one day it will just BE there! She's gonna be a dressage horse--mark my words! CONGRATS on so much progress!

I'd be very interested in what rich thinks about reining horses. We're basically doing dressage but no contact with a lower frame. I watch you Meg Tina em. And luc. I'd love to see you guys try the western culture

I did an English riding lesson for the first time this week. It wasn't as scary to have no horn or swells to hang on to as I thought it would be. I am just wonder how much rein steering English riders do versus leg/seat steering (when in an arena with no obstacles)? I have always done 80% rein steering and maybe 20% leg/seat steering for western. I steer more with my reins when doing patterns of course, but just wondering for some perspective.

Good riding is really mostly from the seat and leg. Reins don't really "steer." They position the horse, give the energy a place to go (outside rein), and supple the mouth. But the key is seat and legs. 🙂

It's mostly leg and seat

Mostly leg and seat. You’re not actually supposed to rely on your reins to steer them

What does "not as fit" at work mean? I'm confused.

Is Rich on a sugar rush? He actually said quite a few nice things to you. You must be so pleased to have it on camera as evidence.

Not understanding the take her out of fitness for a bit. Wouldn't it be simpler to just keep her fit? Better for her health and all that?

When you ride from your seat properly and dont tip forward sit up straight and put your heels down your balance is better and if your horse is sharp at any time you will stay on easier hanging onto a neck strap isnt going to unless your jumping flat work is about balance and pace your can control the horses pace just by your seat and leg hanging on the mouth courses them to pull and fall in it takes two to pull my instructor pull

Thank goodness you're here to teach Han instead of the grand Prix dressage rider literally coaching her.
