Even today, there are voices that the pop singer cannot compare with. Look up Kathryn Grayson, Patrice Munsel, Kitty Carlisle just to name a few. Look up Mario Lanza singing the exact same song and you will get an inkling of what a great voice truly sounds like. Take a moment to closely listen to the works of the late Laura Branigan. Listen to the lead singer of Florence and the machine. Go into you tube and listen carefully to Pat Benatar. Have you ever heard Lady Gaga sing the Sound of Music? There are many dozens of voice far superior to Judith Durham. She was a very good pop singer and is worthy of the praise she has received. However, she is light years away from being the best.

Her renditions of gospels, hymns and anything about religious themes are simply sublime. Even the pictures of her surrounded by the three Seekers boys have a religious appeal. They are so handsome and Judith so beautiful. Their pictures are like their singing in the sense they raise the spirits and minds. The four together give the impression of angels sent to earth for a cause.

I have been hearing a song in my head for the last week which is "I know I'll never find another you". I finally looked it up yesterday especially since I loved it back then in the 60s as a kid. I thought the Mamas and Papas sang it but was surprised to see the seekers did it and was not familiar with the group, just their songs. Then I found out Judith just recently died. God has a message of his love for me. Judith did such good work for him. She must be so happy now :)

Truly the voice of a lovely person. I saw the Seekers live in 1964. A magnificent sound of such warmth and harmony.. this performance of The Lord’s Prayer has what the italian Bel Canto school of singing call “imposto” where the whole body makes the sound. It’s not just a beautiful sound but deeply “honest”. That was always what the Seekers sound was...honest. There’ll never be another them!

We have heard great female pop singers with powerful and beautiful voices, such as Linda Ronstadt, Agnetha Faltskog (Abba), Karen Carpenter, Ann Wilson (Heart), Carole King, Olivia Newton-John, and others. But no one seems to be able to do what Judith Durham was able to do with her vocal power, pitch, purity, poise, resonance, range, emotion, grace, gentleness, simplicity, effortless delivery, transcendent, heavenly sublime tonal quality, and overall luminous stage presence. A voice with the soft and supple texture of the sublime. Judith left her listeners awestruck with every performance. The angelic wings of her voice allowed the audience to soar with her to the deepest blue of heaven's skies. Truly missed, inimitable, and irreplaceable.
