The best intro! The great Norman Whitfield also wrote: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" "You're My Everything" "I Wish It Would Rain" "Cloud Nine" "I Can't Get Next to You" "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)" "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" I Know I'm Losing You" "Car Wash" "Smiling Faces Sometimes" "War" "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"

The Temptations were so talented but there was so much drama going on behind the scenes. Otis Williams as of this writing is the only surviving founding member. Melvin Franklin was the deep bass and what a voice!

The voices are angelic, not only with the Temps but everybody who came out of Motown. Every bit as amazing was the group of musicians who played on virtually everything that ever related by them. They referred to themselves as The Funk Brothers and played on more #1 hits than the Beach Boys, the Beatles, AND Elvis Presley COMBINED. Check out the documentary about them calle3d "Standing in the Shadows of Motown". A couple of hours well spent

The best music is from the 60s and 70s. Motown had The Four Tops, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and on and on. And that's just Motown, Rock music was the best back then too. Most music now is just plain bad.

Hi Doc - this song was on my first MC - the Temptations - the MC is called "Masterpiece". The music cassette had the title in overlength and on the back was the title as an instrumental version. This music has been with me all my life and has contributed to me being an absolute fan of "Tamla Motown". Have fun listening, maybe you will get to hear the extended version.

Yo! I wouldn't be surprised if this song title has correlation to the line off eminem- Mockingbird "Papa was a rolling stone, mama developed a habit and it all happened to fast for one of us to catch it" because this song he's saying his dad left him and his mom all alone and that's basically what em was saying he did when he had to go to LA with Dre and Kim and Hailey went back to Detroit

Oooh love this one! When I was a teen in the late-80s I used to listen to the "oldies" station, I always thought this was a lot older than 1972! lol. But is this remastered or something? The instrumental and the parts where they're lined up at the mics in the studio, is that them? The video quality looks different/more recent in those parts. The trumpet is so crisp! Still a BANGER!
@singinglawr
@singinglawr 7 ай бұрын
The singers that they featured in the black and white studio scenes lined up behind the Microphones were the actors who were playing the "Temptations" in the the movie "The Temptations" which came out about 14 years ago. It was a mini series and can be found on most streaming platforms. They were performing the song after Norman Whitfield and Shelly Berman convinced Dennis Edwards to sing it despite the fact that the 3rd of September was coincidentally the day Dennis' real father died. The base player footage and the trumpet playing footage was also from the movie.
