Great interview, and fascinating insights. Richard is a master atmosphere creator to my ears. His candor and opinions made for an engaging discussion.

Deadwing was my first Porcupine Tree album. Actually I became a fan because of Richard and I really think that his contributions are essential for the PT sound. His sound was what I missed the must on Steven's solo albums. Fab interview!

Superb interview, thank you to both Richard and Yourself. Deadwing was my introduction into Porcupine Tree, I suppose you could say it was The Start of Something Beautiful for me.

Great interview. In addition to his great work with PT, Steve Hogarth and Japan, I also love the albums Richard Barbieri recorded with Steve Jansen.

Richard mentions his love for glam rock and progressive rock that's exactly what roxy music were especially in the early years and from what im aware roxy music are one of his favourite bands I totally agree with him on the beatles

Great interview with Richard, looking forward to this release, Deadwing is one of my favorite PT albums, great picks for the 3 albums he would take if he had to leave planet earth, Rock Bottom and Spirit Of Eden are great albums, Hejira is a great album by Joni as is Ladies of The Canyon.

A very enjoyable interview & great to see & hear Richard being so positive & excellent questions asked Barry & great to hear Spirit Of Eden by Talk Talk getting high praise by Richard & it is an album that's grown in stature since its release in 1988... I was surprised & saddened Richard hadn't heard from David Sylivian for decades & you would think a phone call or 2 would be in order eh!

David sylvan is a real recluse iam friends with the ex japan guitarist Rob Dean and he hasn't spoken to David in over 30 years even his brother hasn't had any contact with him very sad i think sylvan left Japan on a sour note unfortunately there is a recent interview with Robert Dean on you tube which you might find interesting

Richard Barbieri has been critical in shaping the unique sonic spaces occupied by Porcupine Tree. I agree with many, including Richard, that C/C figures among the 3 best albums that Porcupine Tree has done. The songs written with Richard as a co-author are my favourite songs on the extended album. To really fully understand Richard's contribution to C/C, listen carefully to the instrumental versions of the songs. Which, in passing, really hold up well without lyrics. I read rumours that Wilson is interested in doing another PT album focused on keyboards. Keeping my fingers crossed....

Very nice chap and great interview. My take is Richard, Steve Jansen and Mick Karn are/were great guys. Their work together from Life In Tokyo and later was amazing. Jansen is an incredible drummer and sadly we all know how great Mick Karn was. With Mick you also got oboe, sax and clarinet. Richard's soundscapes are fantastic. Sad how Japan ended.

Been a massive fan of Richard from his days in Japan through to his excellent work with porcupine tree all ex members of Japan are and were amazing musicians One interesting comment is way back in 82 Richard barberi said heavy metal music was music that he particularly hated so things must of changed dramatically from his days in Japan Lastly Steve jansen and exit north is worth a listen and they have a new album out shortly

"Why have they issued this ?" Good question - simple answer - money. Just like all of the Porc Tree and Steven Wilson solo and side projects, it'll be released, then released as a remaster, then released again with one or two extra tracks, then released again with some hi-res, or 5.1 or dolby. The rip off just goes on and on and on.
