I know this video is old but let me set the record straight on how the Mongols slaughter animals (applies to sheep and goats only): they don't reach in and squeeze the heart. instead, they reach in and severe the main artery using their finger nails. the blood is still drained from the meat (no one likes to eat meat with blood set in it - it will taste like dead animal) but the blood is collected in the cavity. Then the blood is carefully emptied into container and later it is used to make sausages, etc. there are two main reasons for this: a) it is a taboo for the Mongols to spill blood onto the ground as the Mongols consider the ground to be sacred (sky father and mother earth in Tengerism); b) they don't waste anything, including blood.

Thanks, you've explained it very accurately in great details. We Mongols don't waste anything of our animals which were and are our main source of livelihood up until today. We refer to our animals as Tavan Erdene - Five treasures : horse, sheep, goat, cow, camel.

33:30 - That's probably why rice became popular in persia. Mongol methods of meat preparation weren't halal.

People in the country would be much harder to find than people in cities. Thus, it wouldn't be possible to thoroughly depopulate the rural areas like in the cities. Moreover, the story of 22 oxen pulling an object in unison should not come as a surprise, considering the literature on the early industrial revolution states that 500 horses were known to pull an object in unison.

Show some respect and be grateful for access to such detailed knowledge. He’s 70 years old. I wonder how your memory will be at 70.
