Dan Duryea has become my new favorite. Forgive me, I was born in '65 and didn't know any better until recently. He was handsome as well, which never hurts an actor's career.

Agree. I adore him. There is something to be said for `personality actors` because the wonderfulness of some of them sustains us as fans. If you love Duryea and I do, or Judy Garland, all you have to do when you`re feeling down is to think of some moment of theirs. Actors can have negative or positive effects Big Time!

My wife and I love Dan Duryea! We are absolutely mesmerized watching Mr, Duryea work! He is truly one of the Greats of the most important time in Hollywood History! Gordon Welke (and Leona Sackaney). P,S, Thank you so much for doing such often under appreciated work restoring these oh so important films, from a humanity standpoint!

I recently did To Kill a Mockingbird on stage and one of the characters I played, and i played four, was an angry mob member and I gave my character the laugh that Dan Duryea had in The Little Foxes.

Dan Duryea is my favorite noir movie actors; he truly was the best actor of the time.

I "discovered" Noir about 5 years ago,i always used to watch my parents watching these movies when i was a kid and couldn't understand what was the big deal,i love these movies, they are so good,i call them "My detective movies" ,i like anything with Mr Duryea in it,you learn to love him out of pure hate, ha ha ha, if you hate someone in a movie that means they have done their job and done it well.

I absolutely agree - it's a great compliment to any actor you love, when you're able to "hate" him for the length of the film!

Dan Duryea will always be my favorite slime ball in films. He did it so well that you couldn't help but be utterly entertained by him.Not bad looking actually but he had the ability to change his image into looking scary.Ive seen every one of his films. They simply don't make them like him anymore.

I thought it was Richard Widmark that threw an old lady down some stairs.

It was - but as he was not allowed to see his dad's flicks, maybe he just mistook the roles/movies.

Last night on MeTV I watched a 1967 episode of "Dragnet" that had Dan's other son (Peter Duryea) as one of the guest stars. He looked a bit like his dad but his VOICE sounded a LOT like his dad ! Mind blowing ! Hopefully the episode can be found here at YT so Dan Dureya fans can check it out ! The name of that particular Dragnet episode was "The Trial Board". This wonderful interview with Richard is SO informative & entertaining ! The good folk at NoirCitySF are the BEST !! :-)

Maybe someone with a psychology background can answer this: why is it that actors who play the scumbags on screen are nice decent guys in real life and those who play the good guys tend to be scums in real life?
