There's not much you can say or do but tip your hat and admire the beauty of a backhand like that. It's one of those rare and occasional things where someone has a historically freakish shot and is just blessed with incredible talent, technique, and ability. And it is so natural to Gasquet that is not a surprise or anomaly when he hits these shots but he actually expects to. One of the best, if not the best, one-handed topspin backhands of all time.

My junior coach forced me to learn this backhand - terribly difficult to get the feel for, but eventually you can eliminate the need to switch back to continental between shots and simply maintain the western forehand grip for both forehand and backhand sides. Super fun!

True! A full western forehand grip becomes an eastern grip on an one handed backhand without changing the hand position on the handle.👍

I do the same thing. Semi-western, so I have a small grip change, but it's so much better than switching the other way, especially on serve return.

When pretty tennis is also devastating. I mean, when you can hit through Djokovic, Nadal and Federer with your backhand, you have to have alot. He can go down the line regular, early, or from way behind the baseline to the same effect.

Yes he has a great backhand, but there is more to a backhand than the over the top backhand. The slice is just as valuable, and he has a pretty average slice. As a package deal, Federer had a better backhand

Both Wawrinka's and Kuerten's were better because they were more reliable, more constant, used with more focus between the hears, especially Kuerten's. As for the esthetic, I will go with Gasquet.
