Watch Richard Hammond's Workshop in the UK: bit.ly/Richard-Hammond-YT-H9
@rjfaber19912 жыл бұрын
In the UK, and only in the UK, because Discovery still haven't discovered that a succesful streaming service can't just have things be released áfter they've been shown on telly, which will only be in several months' time for any country that isn't Britain. Discovery+ might honestly be the worst streaming service out there, and it's such a shame, because the content is great (and Richard Hammond's Workshop is a particular highlight).

The take-away: Richard Hammond isn't much for dotting-i's and crossing-t's. Less a measure-twice, cut once, more ready-shoot-aim. Very British auto. Well done.

In the late 70s, a guy in the apartment complex i lived in as a kid, owned a black RS2000. I was just as fascinated by that, as Richard describes having been with the red one from his childhood. They made such an impression back then ❤

NO!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it - The Mk2 RS2000 is my absolute favourite car and one I want to build. My first ever car was a Mk1 1300E and my second was a Mk2 1.6 kent engined Ghia in white with a black vinyl roof. I used to pretend I was Bodie driving around in his white RS2000 and I should never have sold her. I am now of an age when I might soon have time on my hands to find and restore my very own RS2000 one day. Thank you Richard for inspiring me. It's going to be a labour of love and I will need some deep pockets. But What. A. Car. It's the memories Richard, the memories ...

Back in the late 80s, there was much discussion between my best mate and I about which was better out of the Mk1 and Mk2 RS2000. By that time it was the era of XR3Is, RS Turbos, and Sierra Cosworths, but we still liked the RS2000. Sadly, we were only about 16 at the time, so couldn't afford any of them.

Just a slight thing a T reg custom rs2000 didn’t have the rs2000 stickers on the rear quarter panels! They would have been pre custom and roll top seats And it had a sticker saying custom on the dash above the heater controlled

I know all original sells better, but I liked Hammond's decision to go with a different color interior. I hope to see future updates on the green Riveria boat-tail (if Hammond still has it) and the Impreza too, the more nitty-gritty details and work shown the better! 👍

I worked at Tate Cars ( Rallye Sport Dealer) in Leeds in the 1970’s and a Customer brought his 3 week old Mk2 RS2000 in as he left his dog in the car for a short while and it chewed through the drivers Recaro seat bolsters! He wanted to know how much a new one would cost. What a mess foam everywhere. To say he wasn’t happy was an understatement.

All the comments think Hammond is daft because he isn't business savvy? Think a bit more about it. This is a man with a wife and kids who can buy old knackers, get them fully restored to whatever spec he likes then if he fancies it he can keep it - if not he can try to "make money" on it. All with their blessing. I would say he's got this nailed to be honest.

Things I remember about these from my youth. You could open and start one with a £5 swiss army knife. I demonstrated this to a friend who owned one. As a result the mileage on them was generally less than 50% by the owner of the car. They were cool and desirable. I don't think they were £30k+ desirable even then, let alone now, but that's just my opinion. The fact it sold for more means there are people out there willing to spend money proving me wrong.
