Everyone saying scooters are a waste of time... I disagree. I have a full bike licence and have ridden a "proper" 600cc bike for the past few years and am reverting back to a little 125 scooter. They're far quicker through the traffic, better in weather, better carrying capacity and more economical. motorbikes are toys, scooters are tools.

the might be ok around town but as regards going far on them say 150 miles forget it ther to slow unless its deresrticted

My 150cc struggles at 50-55mph of course the speedometers say I'm doing 65-70 which isn't true according to GPS

I miss my runner 125. Probably not as good as I remember it but it was good. Fast in London. I think it was mildly modified because it was quicker than the original 180sp I rode later on. Idk. But if I could go back for a day this scooter would be a highlight. I had the same colours as this one too.

from all 3 of them, the vespa is probably the best buy..test isn't informative about it though... Px125 has a proper cardan-shaft, which is maintanancefree, the fuel/oil economy is really nice on that one aswell as overall maintanance. Drumbrakes on the back are pretty good, but what makes it a topper is the footbrakepedal. All of this combines makes it certainly for a proper motoring experience, aswell as the 2-stroke being nippy in the low end. It's just a stunner to look at aswell and it's got a spare-wheel which is pretty easy to install..bring it to the shop and you can still ride on while it gets a new tire. The rear tire does wear quickly though, because all the weight is in the back. Then again, those tires are pretty cheap. The riding-qualities are great, shift back before cornering etc..you can drive this pretty sporty and with loads of confidence, you can even drift or wheelie it out of corner. Then the aluminum chassis is pretty balanced, although the engine does hang on the rear righthand side, it's very comfortable. And last but not least..it's resalevalue ...only for that it's an awesome starter's package for young motorists. Certainly between these 3 .

I actually have a px 125 and can asure you it goes around 105km/h on gps...I even drive it on the highways. When you state it's a 'pain to drive'..I state it's way more fun then any scooter. Though i do love the gilera's and Aprilia's aswell. fact is, I can balance the px alot more, thanks to a great feel in the chassis. It is more 'work' to drive, but gives me personnally a bigger smile. Also it's the only one I would drive in the snow and on icy conditions. Drifting it through the corners etc.... And last but not least...here in Belgiium, this Px is a 2-stroke! 😉

@@GwenCoonen I have both a PX125 and a Gilera Runner 180, although I haven't ridden them for over 10 years. I love them both for their very different characters. The Gilera is more stable on slippery surfaces, being more evenly balanced and having modern motorcycle type tubeless tyres. However it can't carry a 1 cwt bag of cement like the Vespa can. The Gilera can reach 144km/h and accelerate like a sports car, but the Vespa is joy to ride. Your Vespa must have the T5 engine which was just as fast as the PX200. The T5 was distinguished by an oblong headlight while the standard 125 had a round one. I am referring to the UK model range, which may be different to Belgium.

I confirm that. Piaggio have owned Gilera for several years. This is out of date now because the 2 stroke engines in these scooters were killed off by EU emission regulations, and the 2 survivors are now fitted with slower 4 stroke engines. The Vespa is no more, replaced by a modern twist and go with retro styling. It wasn't economic to design a new 4 stroke geared engine.

They have the same engine cases but the ignition systems are different. if you fit a liquid cooled ignition to the aircooled engines they make more power than the liquid cooled so piaggio fitted a different system. Or just that bike she had was badly tuned demo bike

People laughed at me, but inside I was laughing at them for their display of ignorance. I was riding into town on my Vespa 200, and was followed by a dispatch rider who knew me, riding a Suzuki 850. He tried to catch me up, but had to give up in the end. I didn't know about it until he told me later, and swore I was a lunatic the way I dodged in and out between the cars. He was one of the people who laughed at me. I think I knocked the mirror off a Volvo with my elbow, but I didn't stop. Have you seen the price of Volvo mirrors?
