What a poet and a strong man. I look up to him and that is the last thing he would have wanted. I am like him and I'm glad of it. Richard where ever you are, you have raised us up. Thanks Selmedida.

hell even when he collapsed in the savoy hotel in 2002 just before he died he was saying to the people "it was the food!" and he knew he was gonna die, as he had cancer. He was a brilliant actor, he led an exciting, amazing life that i, in all honesty would love to live myself, and believe me i try. Hes such a role model and i admire him a lot, im a massive fan of his life, and his work, and i love his attitude. Seriously if u dont kno much about harris, he was an amazing character.

he would open his door in a full long nightgown, tall as he was, pure white hair like a crown on his head, round spectacles...he doddled alot, very gentle and sweet to me...he would say, "such a very nice young man and maybe a brief chat about the weather....tipped me graciously always....yep, He'll be missed!

Yeah....my brother and I loved him from the musical Camelot. So, meeting him a year before he passed in 2001 was pretty cool....his permanent home in NYC was at the Surrey Hotel on the Upper East Side...I was working room service back then....I would bring him breakfast daily, especially that summer.

Mr. Harris was very much as his character Prof.Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies...! He was also very regal, gentle but obvioulsy mentally occupied...I got the sense he was always busy.

richard harris was irish, and he was proud to be irish, i know that much myself being half english half irish. However he always used to talk about plays he did in England, and how him and peter o toole would get drunk n then have to go back on stage, it sounded hilarious, his whole life sounds amazing because he was someone, who, honestly didnt give a fuck what anyone thought, hed do what he want, when he wanted how he wanted. And ive always, ALWAYS admired him for that.

He took the role for Harry Potter because his granddaughter wanted him to! Every morning, he ate scrambled egg whites w/tomoatoes, wheat toast and cranberry juice...he was a generous tipper and always had very kind words for me when I brought breakfast to his quarters. Ofen he was in a full men's nightgown which was funny!

I served him breakfast on a number of occassions in the SUmmer of '01 at a hotel in NYC...he was in residence there and frequently traveling between NYC and the U.K. to do the Harry Potter movies.

he said he didnt want to be remembered for playing dumbledore, like most young teenagers and children know him for, but he wanted to be remembered for all the other things he did, all the plays he did, the earlier films this sporting life for example. He was a womanizer, a jet setter, a tough bastard who had his nose broke 9 times through rugby, he was a "bad boy" if you seen him in interviews n all the things hes done, he did everything he wanted to do in life, and died happy.

some evenings he'd be out on the Hotel's street cafe, Cafe Boulud at a duo, his hair in a long white pony-tail w/a bottle of wine being shared between himself and a friend. He was taking medication for sure...I saw the cocktail of pills on the table in his room...his breakfast was always the same: scrambled whites w/sliced tomato, wheat toast and Cranberry juice!

amid the pretentious movie world, Harris had the balls to be himself and not conform to the self important world of the plastic freaks. This man did'nt follow anyone, he lead the way!! he deserves respect for that. A life lesson for us all i think.

He was a recovering alcoholic...in fact, while he was at the hotel, there were some problems with the staff on occassion due to his infrequent flare-ups...but nothing major.

I don't recall reading that he 'put down' that many other actors, apart from Oliver Reed. Neither is it fair to say that the rest of the films he made were 'crap.' I think people merely dislike the fact that Harris refused to conform to people's expectations about him.

I'm still amazed you could find the time to comment the entire page lol i find no offense in the word and people have no right to say something is right or wrong to say even if it is such. We have thoughts and we speak them. Our freedom to express our innermost thoughts is what makes us human beings. Be offended by all means..but opinions are like assholes...everyone's got one.

He's a well known supporter of the IRA, he's mentioned it in countless interviews over the year's, the London attack that killed 6 and injured many others, he was quoted as saying " I can understand why they did it" So yes he could justify mass murder by a terrorist group. There's countless accounts of him saying things like this

I must disagree. Intelligent people open their minds and explore ALL taboos to understand why it is considered a taboo and if it is concluded that the reasoning behind making something a taboo is irrational, such as, 'ooohh that's disgusting' or 'I just don't like that word' then those people should be mocked at every chance. If we don't challenge irrational and stupid thinking then we are all stupid cunts. Maybe those that make taboos for stupid reasons should be considered taboos?

Oooooo, saying 'cunt' lots of times: how clever and rebellious and original.

I didn't think they were all that close...? It claims in Harris' Feeney Callan biography that he used to constantly make derogatory comments about Reed, because he didn't consider him to be that good an actor. This may be inaccurate though???

Part 1 "Some people might call your agenda irrational." Really? Please..state my agenda. I would like to hear from you my future plans. Also no-one is forcing anyone to do anything at all. The word cunt is in the title, if you don't like it, don't watch it. If people have a personal problem with the word then that is fine..but that is NOT what makes something a taboo. What I stated was look at the reasons something is taboo and if those reasons are irrational then expose those reasons...

Whether you are religious or not -- how did the F word and the C word become so powerful that when you say it, so many people are offended. Even if the F word is said in a movie, people are a little dazzled by it, somewhat offensive. Same with the C word. It's almost as if those two words have a hidden power. If you tell a woman that she's a bitch -- wrong as that it is -- the world doesn't end. But use the C word -- so where did the power of that word come from?
@tabula12345615 жыл бұрын
Part 2: ..for what they are, irrational. I'm not trying to stop anyone from having a subjective opinion. You seem to be tho. Tell me, is it irrational to to stop someone from creating irrational reasons to create or support a taboo? I think not. Please try and separate subjective opinions from taboos. And one more thing, EVERYTHING should be discussed and brought out into the open. EVERYTHING! No matter the sensibilities of some. That is the ONLY intelligent way to discover and explore.

Learn how to comprehend what you read. I was asking a question about the origins of how certain words got to be so ugly. Bottom line: I was asking a question, not preaching. There's no preaching in what I wrote. Your English teachers would be ashamed.

So, I suppose you worked at the Savoy? I do not doubt he was 'regal' in the sense, and prolly his old age. But he was a total hellraiser and anything but 'regal' in his earlier life. From all accounts a total tosser.
