I haven't seen the movie, but I'm still hoping to. And I'm still angry about it 24 years later! As soon as it was proven that he couldn't have gotten back to park in the time between the placing of the call to 911 from that public-phone bank and the time he found the bomb - which was two or three days after he became a "person of interest" - I decided that he didn't do it. And it took the FBI three whole months to reach the same conclusion.

@@stevenmaginnis1965 I just watched the movie. I looked up these 60 Min interviews to see Richard Jewell in person. The media shredded his dignity, humiliated him, people called him a loser and poser and of course, they joked about his weight. It's a shame. Several years ago, I helped rescue 4 people from a burning building.(not a big deal IMHO) Luckily, the fire was started by a smoldering ashtray. I got a nice write up in the paper and a few stories on boston news. A guy at the gym shook my hand several days later and one of the courts that I practice in took a few minutes to recognize it. I felt so bad for Richard Jewell in that diner scene. He was in tears and bit into his pastry kinda seeking comfort. I wish that I could have just said "good job" and shook his hand. I watched these 60 Min videos and the movie portrayal was spot-on. Sure, he is a chubby guy who wanted to be a cop but many security guys are like that. I worked as an EMT for a while and guys volunteered at local Fire Departments or worked for barely minimum wage just to work in the EMT field and be heroes and save lives. Sure, some guys were "wannabees" or geeky but they really seemed to want to help and wanted to be EMTs. Sheriff auxiliary and reserve officers were also full of guys who hoped for a chance to work full time in policing. Many moved on, others could not cut it as full-time cops.

It really was. I loved it and hated it at the same time. Loved it because it was high time that a proper accounting and tribute for RJ was made. Hated it because it made me furious all over again for what the government/media complex did to this good and decent *American hero,* just as mad as I was in 1996, when it originally happened.

@@stylinandraciallyprofilin6995 They did it because they didn't suffer severe consequences during their practice run at railroading an American in the person of Richard Jewell. As someone who does NOT support Trump, I am not going to equate what happened to Jewell with any investigation of Trump. Not every FBI investigation is a sham. The Jewell investigation was a sham, and it was conducted at a time when the FBI was under different leadership and was failing left and right. Under Louis Freeh, the FBI never caught Ted Kaczynski (his brother turned him in). Thank God Freeh was out just before the World Trade Center was blown to kingdom come!

You must be the only one because nothing has changed with the big channels that’s why independent pod cast has become so reliable and even entertaining. They talk with common sense and empathy about all sides. I don’t even turn in my TV anymore and neither do my kids, so tv reporting may be dying down. Social media is the same so you have to find good reporting, big channels report the same thing every day, After 2 weeks of exactly the same reporting... I unsubscribed from them. If I kept listening I would think the world will end in 12 years and I would die from the virus if I stepped outside. They are a joke....

Being falsely accused of something you didn't do is horrible. The emotional and mental abuse you suffer at the incompetence, ignorance, and/or lies of others, as well as your own thoughts and eagerness to prove your innocents, is so destructive and has a continuing destructive rippling effect throughout your life. I saw Clint Eastwood’s movie about Richard. I think he was a guy too good for an ungrateful society that is thirsty of sensationalism. Tabloids will do anything to increase their sales at the expense of other people wellbeing or the truth. Richard saved soooo many lives of innocent people that night. But he even didn’t consider himself as a hero, just a regular guy doing his job. And that alone is what makes him a true hero!!!! 😢Rest in Peace
