Truly an artist and one of the greatest comedians of all time. I first heard Mudbone off Was It Something I Said. On 8 track. I was 14 and the only way we could listen to Pryor was in a older sibling’s car or friend’s. We’d all stand around or crowd in and listen to his albums ASAP. We quoted from them endlessly and I still know the Mudbone pieces by heart 45 years later. Genius.

All I need to hear are those opening words "I wa born" and I automatically have a laugh in my throat and a tear in my eye because I know the rest that is coming. 50 year old memories of a work crew that would interject phases like "That's when I took my knife out!" or "And I weren't mad no mo either." into a conversation every chance we got. It never got better than Richard.

Pryor paved the way for a lot of talent. True talent Hollywood would pay for. Harnessing the talented into the Hollywood script doesn't work for the truly gifted. The gifted talent is in beast mode. It will always stand the test of time.
