Truly an artist and one of the greatest comedians of all time. I first heard Mudbone off Was It Something I Said. On 8 track. I was 14 and the only way we could listen to Pryor was in a older sibling’s car or friend’s. We’d all stand around or crowd in and listen to his albums ASAP. We quoted from them endlessly and I still know the Mudbone pieces by heart 45 years later. Genius.

All I need to hear are those opening words "I wa born" and I automatically have a laugh in my throat and a tear in my eye because I know the rest that is coming. 50 year old memories of a work crew that would interject phases like "That's when I took my knife out!" or "And I weren't mad no mo either." into a conversation every chance we got.
