Tuesday 4 June - I'm cutting back nettles and grasses today, and popping them into our various compost bins. It's also time to get our tomatoes in, despite them being rather diminutive... they do have OK roots though they're not anywhere near the root system that ours have had in previous years;
Friday 7 June - an early morning visit to Kew Gardens, and an update on our Lidl Basil cuttings and pottings-up;
Saturday 8 June - germination in our dwarf beans, and going with the flow... and rambling, of course...

You do realize part of the charm of 'a week at the plot' is your rambling.

So glad you decided to go with the flow. HAPPY is within your reach. You are mostly a positive thinker so we should begin to see signs that you are mellowing out and accepting whatever comes. Always enjoy your week at the plot. Thanks!

Oh, Paul, so many of us are struggling. Honestly, it will be a joy to just watch you pulling up grasses- it means it’s ok that it’s all we can do. I find such joy in watching your vlog every week. I don’t give a f*** what you’re doing - it’s just nice to see a sensible, sensitive, planet loving, knowledgeable person, working their bit of land. I owe you a ton of thanks.

It's bonkers, isn't it, how we all seem to have one crop we cannot grow.......despite being great growers of everything else. You know my failure with Brussels Sprouts over the years! That pink flower, outside the greenhouse (sorry, missed the name) is such a gorgeous bright spot. 😊 Yay for lettuce going in. Ugh, yes, May has felt chilly and very wet! Oh what a beautiful day for your Kew visit! That sea of grass is gorgeous. 💖 Yay for the basil cuttings - they look fab. Oh dear - the radish saga continues for another year...... Awww, Georgie the acrobat cat! Yay for going with the flow! Happy flowing gorgeous. XXX

It is cute to see the cat drinking water from the tap while it keeps good balance! As I never get proper radish I grow it for seed pods which are delicious.

My previous cats loved drinking from the kitchen tap, so I bought a water fountain drinking bowl for my cats. Murphy tried it first, drinking from the water, but the flower part poured water on her head and she ran away. Her sister didn't want any part of it. Luckily the flower was removable, leaving just a bubbling area in the centre. They could live with that, and I think they appreciate the filter system to keep the water clean. Don't think of the pond failure as your fault; it's just a learning experience, which you won't do again. :) Laters, Lad. ~ Jon in rural BC, Canada

Hi Paul. I too am a member of the Can't Grow Radish club - except mooli/daikon, which often does just fine. However I do find that if they are leafing and not rooting, leaving them alone to go up to flower ultimately yields the very tasty and radishy seed pods. Good luck!

Ge 🍵 I vote for a Basil trough. It was very chilly(68°), overcast and windy day, I decided to sow carrots. I also pulled my SAD radishes...compost bonus. Cheers, Upstate NY

Thanks for the update. Kew was beautiful. And George, and your flowers! I agree, go with the flow, what will grow, will grow. We had a hail storm penetrating lots of leaves here, no point in wasting tears over it, it is what it is, I think my plant will survive, although not as pretty as they were. Is it common in your area to grow radishes in the polytunnel and tomatoes outside? Most other growers I watch do it the other way around.

Nice to see georgie drinking from the water tap, my cat would only drink from a tap never from his bowl, so l had to leave the bathroom tap running slightly for him 😅 l know what you mean about the seeds from other people's plots, l have three plots round mine and they are full of weeds, they only seem to weed where they want to put something in, 😢

I would think the plant is creating more leaves to try and capture more sunlight....I grow my radishes outside and never have issues with root formation. I also thin them and use the greens in stews and salads. Love your channel.

I have at least two of the best fed voles in Canada. They have eaten all of the broccoli, peppers, and even the dill. At least they don't like onions and garlic. Oh and they ate the Corsican violet flowers as well.
