Song was from my senior year in high school. I had been selected to all-state choir, which was awesome. Then, on the bus trip back from Olympia, I sat with this total fox cutie from another high school clear across town... and we shared her earphone splitter on my walkman and listened to this. I was totally smitten by her and wanted our moment together to last forever. When we got back to town, she gave me a hug, and I never saw her again. But every time I hear this song... it's the fall of 1989, and all over again I'm that shy kid in high school. It's the end of the 80s, and I've got this terminal lump in my throat, and for a moment, for just a second or two, for old time sake... she's right there, listening to this with me.

I was 7 when this song came out and it brings back great memories. I'm anticipating his performance on the Grand Ole Opry tomorrow, April 2, 2022. It's not fair. I was at Astro World Houston Jun. of 1988, but he performed there a month later and I couldn't go. I lived in Louisiana about 5 minutes west of Natchez, MS and my grandmother wasn't going to drive that far for a music concert. I only found out because I bought the Right Here Waiting CD from the local pawn shop used in the early 2000s. It had the ticket stub for that concert.

My fiancee and I saw Richard perform a few months ago at the Rialto theater in Joliet, IL. He had an acoustic guitar and a piano. That's it. Wow! I was blown away to hear him live after not really knowing his music. Talk about talent. True entertainer that desires to connect with the live audience. I was a metalhead in high school. I always wore Metallica t-shirts and holey jeans. I'm no longer ashamed to say it: great music is GREAT, no matter the genre. Marx's music has been a light for me through many difficult times--as much or more than anyone else's.
