Richardson Lake , Maine 2021

Once again, my good friend James, "Mainedwella" and I go canoe camping in the great state of Maine ! We were at Richardson Lake ,this was our fifth consecutive year going there. The upper and lower lakes have 39 primitive campsites that are reserved ahead of time. And are only accessible by canoe or boat. The lake has great brook trout fishing as well as salmon and some really nice yellow perch. James recently purchased a PlacidBoatWorks Rapid-fire ! Just like my canoe and this was its maiden voyage. My favorite lake in this state. Unspoiled. Great scenery and awesome fishing. Storms roll through pretty strong up there. So be prepared.

We have been up there the same week in June for five years running ! Like many lakes in Maine or the Adirondacks the mid day wind can shut you down !

Camped there on the island I think 25+ yrs ago with friends, had a camp on AZISCOHOS, nice spot ,another lifetime enjoy while you can, we get old ,put your memories in a good place take them out when you need them, do it as long as you can

Totally makes sense! Absolutely enjoy sitting underneath a tarp while it’s raining. Gives the feeling you’ve outwitted the elements but still enjoying Mother Nature. Fantastic trip, excellent video. Thanks for sharing!

I like the tarp-over-tent - I do that too, and it keeps the water away from the tent floor edge so it cant run under and get thru the floor. So did all the FOOD! ??... How did you keep all that fresh food cold the whole week? MAAN! Those pizza's looked GOOOOD! (Me Mtn House guy... portages... mebe gotta look for a no portage trip next time...) My friend Hyde has been known to tow a second 'barge' canoe full of coolers, but, hey, he was a caterer. I would rather explore than cook all day... But... That PIZZA!! OH!! Temptations!! Good video! Just got back from Lake Richardson 1 hour ago , I’ve watched your trips the last few years and decided to give it a try.. we’ve gone to mooselook and umbagog a couple of times- 3 nights caught a few Brookies, stayed at the birches campsite near the dam , good hammock spot

Water levels went down a lot further than at this time. It was lower than I’ve ever seen it.

We were up a Azakohos lake a couple months after that trip, that was incredibly low. FYI the folks at Richardson told us there was an issue with the dam and they were working on it, and we did see construction going on.
