You hamfisted gibbon! All that perseverance without any profanity. The Stag is a lovely car. Thanks for this video, I'm learning a lot.

Profanity edited out because stag owners can be offended by the occasional "you f'in c***"

Stag owners are less acclimatised to base Anglo Saxon profanity. Means that I spend a whole lot more time editing it all out

It's early October and Richard is in his T-shirt under a blue sky, FFS! Doesn't look like the he's in the UK at all.

Well done Richard, don't know why you don't get those cars up higher off the ground for access. You had a lift in one episode.
@churchhouseclassics2 ай бұрын
I have never had a lift, shortly to be remedied. Must have been in someone elses workshop I visited

Don't worry about writing that diff off, Richard... it would never have lived, its eyes were too close together! 😉

Well I think you got the better end of that straight swap Richard! You had to add a thrust washer to my diff and all is good. I’ve had to change all the bearings in the 3.45 due to overheating / lack of oil, only to find the crown wheel and pinion are also worn and howl like hell. As a result my Stag is still sat in my garage going nowhere until I can find a solution. You roll the dice I guess, it didn’t roll my way this time 😟
@churchhouseclassics2 ай бұрын
I am sorry to hear that, I may be able to help you still. Surprised that the crown and pinion are too far gone as they seemed ok when I topped up oil and drove to my workshop. Now I need to go back to friend Paul who sold me the diff that I destroyed.. Sure it wasn't totally* my fault 🙈

@@churchhouseclassics thanks Richard- any help much appreciated- drop me a mail if easier. The diff is in the car at moment but will get you some pics when I get it out again- in the right light and with it out of the casing, you can see proper wear marks in the teeth, not just normal age wear. Being fair to you they just don’t seem to show with them in the casing. I have checked preload and teeth mesh with blue and it is all good, as all bearings are new there is nothing else left to make this awful noise! Cheers

except the diff nose extension housing bearing. they are a pain, mostly found parts supplied by main suppliers are cheese. makes a lot of noise but is not the diff. Drop me a line

Lucky you had another diff to hand. Maybe shear pins on propshaft so if your hoof gets a bit heavy when dropping clutch then they will give way instead of the diff.just a thought🤔
@churchhouseclassics2 ай бұрын
Output shafts are usually the weakest point, certainly on 4x4 land rovers. easier to fix. Diff sheer pin might get changed a lot. I think maybe not driving like a knob will prevent me fixing the poor thing again

You are nobodys 'buffoon' Richard ! - OK dropping the clutch at 3K revs is perhaps stressing the diff a little 🤣- as you say - your car your rules - It a lovely car though 👏

Well I was driving up a hill at the time, not as embarrassing as the backwards roll of shame at an organised event but only just

Great job and video, I’ve a Vitesse and was wondering if the diff can be dropped/ changed without taking the spring out ie leaving it in the car but just unbolted it? Cheers for any information you can give 👍👍
