Who cares if Lou didn't look like Ritchie. He did an amazing job portraying this hugely talented modest young man. Because of this film Ritchie will live on. Its desperately sad that this amazing kid was taken too soon. He wrote extremely catchy memorable songs and I'm in no doubt he wouldn't have been a three or four hit wonder and would have gone on to have a long career writing music that would have stood the test of time. What an utterly devastating and untimely loss he was too the music business. Now reunited with his mother resting in eternal peace.

You can always tell the greats from the regular ones. After all these years their music (Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens) still lives on. My son was five years old when the "La Bamba" movie came out and is still a fan to this day. Love seeing the home movies of he and his family - such a great loss.

Primito Rdz Did Bob pass away? I knew he was battling cancer but never heard anything else. I live in Watsonville where he lived. It’s sad to see so many of Ritchie’s family members from that time go. Hopefully they are all united with Ritchie again and listening to him sing his wonderful songs in heaven.

My family was always a huge fan of the 50s and 60s. My friends Aunt ! And cousins !! His Mom worked at Wendell chicken cafe on San Fernando Rd in San Fernando CA ! As little children l remember that plane crash at pacomia Jr high school !! We Saw it my dad jump the fence to help the kid's at terra Bella St and Laurel canyon ! That terrible day 😞 l remember seeing that a black leather jacket was laying on the too of the fence ! The most saddest thing to see for US little children 🙏 ! Our dad told my sister to drive us home my mom was crying 😭 that day we saw it explode God bless all the kids playing in the field that day ! They were heading to Whiteman air Port on about a mile away from the school ! God bless his mother !

Ritchie Valens family was a early California settler Californio family who founded all the early major cities up and down the coast from Baja Cali all the way to San Francisco. My grandson since the age of 8or9 saw his movie an omg!!! He watch the movie over an over an over til this day 14yrs...oh an he wanted a guitar so bad well being on a tight budget I made him one from tissue box an newspaper an flour for the glue painted blue cause that's all the paint we had ....did I mention it did work BUT he would play it as if it did one day he decided to take it to school to show it of well as he layed it down on the ground to play basketball some kid sat on it an squash it omg!!! This is the closest thing that we are gonna get of this beautiful man. I really wish he knew what toll he had on me, he inspired me to learn guitar connie, bob irma mario and ritchie are now reunited in paradise. Long live the spirit of ritchie valens he was so beautiful and he deserved life and long live chicano rock
