Good vid, figured it was easy like other cars but always good to have eyes on a car you haven't done. My key would not turn after it got stuck once and like an idiot I didn't get a new cylinder. I was able to unstick the cylinder again by putting the key in and then lightly smacking it 5 or 6 times with a hammer. Directly in like you are hammering in a nail except its the key. That did the trick. Van is parked until the Dorman replacement with the auto programming sleeve comes in. From what I read in case I couldn't get the cylinder to turn, you can pull the plastic cover off the column and do some drilling or "pliering" and get it turned enough to come out like normal.

Reinstallation is the reverse? My '03 Caravan was stolen and the lock cylinder doesn't always work properly.

Someone tried to still my 2005 Grand caravan I told ignition locked out I try to start it with screwdriver where the shut off won't start back up how do I go by starting this car without the key and keeping it running

Thanks for the info. But how would you replace it if the cylinder is locked up...I can't get mine to turn at all. Steering column is not locked up though.

Vibrate the cylinder to get the inner tab (it broke) to drop. I slide a standared (flat tip) screwdriver between the key and the cylinder (put flat side of screwdriver tip, right next to the flat side of the key) tap lightly while turning key to on position. It's easier with an air tool but be sure to turn down the air so you don't cut metal.

Being stuck in the off position; I removed the lower cover and the black plastic cover around the part where the key goes in and turned the tumbler with a pair of channel lock pliers. You can then remove the tumbler by pushing the pin on the bottom once in the on position. You can start and drive the car by using a large screw driver in the ign switch hole. Just be careful because there plastic parts in there.

turn key to on position and you'll see a hole in cylinder where you push a thin tip into and that will release your ignition cylinder... slide it out and insert the new one.

Fords are the same but most models have a hole in the lower shroud. Straight pick, turn key, remove cylinder.
