I own a 991.1 turbo S. Some things to consider. You will not get any foliage into the side intakes. You definitely need to upgrade the exhaust (I have a soul and highly recommended). Additionally, you need to get grates for the front lower bumper intakes, you will get a ton of leaves and debris. Servicing is super easy. Easy to change oil. Air filter is a pain, requires removing the bumper. The PCM is junk. There are no options missing. That’s Porsche blanks from the base Carrara.

On repairing these things - Porsche will sell you basically any part you want. They publish complete service manuals and offer them to independent shops (at cost), and offer a catalog of every part used in production by generation for free. You find a part in that catalog, and they sell it to you, be it as small as a screw or a grommet, or as large as a complete driveline or subframe. Hi Rich, great episode! The 991 Turbo S has tons of power reserves. Mere reprogramming and freeflow airfilters yield 635hp, while larger vtg turbos and exhaust will take you around 685hp. Carbon brakes are nice but if one warps (hot brakes and a puddle) they need to both be changed! If you ever visit Jackie Steward’s Green Hell, Nordschleife Nürburgring, Germany, ALL Porsches are running steel brakes. They will still pull your eyeballs out. @fredpinczuk73523 жыл бұрын
If I may Lucky enough to own Model 3 and 981 GT4. And I must be a Tesla fan boy since I own a lot more TLSA Stocks then I do POAHY The car brands are mostly playing in 2 different fields. You are comparing a company who currently does not produce a sport car vs. a well established sport car brand. But If you are going to compare them, it must be the Model S Plaid vs Taycan Turbo 4S So one is double the cost for half the performance across the board. Tesla wins in: Top speed, HP, Acceleration, range, infrastructure (charging Station), Pricing, ect...except for the braking performance with Porsche optional PPCC (Carbon Ceramic, I have those. Stopping power is amazing with zero fade). Porsche (part owned by VW) is fast tracking the EV options. They will have the 718 EV by 2024~25. And frankly, its either going to be that in my future or the Tesla Roadster (if it ever comes out). ICE cars days are numbered, yes I enjoy the sound of my flat 6 at 8K rpm. But frankly, I've spent on average $35 a year on the Tesla maintenance. And $4K on the 981. So give me that chassis performance of Porsche with the EV ease of ownership, and I am done with ICE. And yes I will keep one or two ICE in my collection and drive around maybe once a month. ICE days for the mass market is coming to an end fast. But that's ok. It means more gas available longer for those who will continue to enjoy their collection of soon to be "classics". And for your great-grand kids to enjoy as well.

I one a Boxster of the same generation, and yes the car is amazing. I think this generation of Porsche interior is probably the best, excluding the blank buttons in the center console, and even fully loaded cars can have blanks. The cup holders are also much better then they appear to function. All I can say is welcome to the Porsche family, their really great reliable cars to daily drive, and you’ll love it.

Literally, Rich, this is just about my life story. I owned a Neon, too! I can't wait (well, I have to) but I hope the last chapter of my car ownership ends with the 911 Turbo S in a blue color. I always ask Santa and anyone else I meet for a 911 Turbo S whenever they ask what I want. They think I'm joking, for some reason. One day. Oh, and I laughed at the HNIC reference because it's something my dad (also a Corvette lover) enlightened me to, because, well, he was the HNIC of our household ^_^ I love this video and look forward to where it's about my story!
@LordPrometheous3 жыл бұрын
I, too, had a Neon. It was this awful purple color, and my coworkers at the shop called it Barney. But at least it was a manual, and a 2-door, which was very rare. It was fun to drive, and I was able to chirp 3rd gear (somehow). When my wife picked up her grandmother who came to visit, her grandmother loved the car and insisted that it was a Porsche. My wife didn't have the heart to tell her...
